Aromatherapy for Cats – (496 Words)

While aromatherapy for dogs is relatively simple, cats are more complex. Their sense of smell is so much more acute and cats react very differently than humans when it comes to aromatherapy. Aromatherapy for Cats using Hydrosols and Mists

Hydrosols, also known as floral waters, hydroflorates, flower waters or distillates come from the water used to create the steam that releases essential oils. The properties in hydrosols are similar to essential oils but the substances are far less concentrated. These floral waters are much safer to use with any animal, especially cats. They can be used in the animal’s environment, but never sprayed directly on the cat, nor should they be added to the cat’s food or water.

The following cat conditions can be treated effectively with essential oil hydrosols, used singly or in combination:

To calm an agitated or nervous cat
