As times change for the types of warfare, also does the transportation, the armor, as well as the weaponry. From the caveman era with rocks wrapped with veins around a stick followed by the renaissance era with archers and swords. Then came the conquest of the Americas with single-round guns and light clothing, now today with automatic multi-round rifles and bulletproof armor. Some wonder what is next in the development of military technology such as weaponry and armor. Marvel’s Iron Man takes a much detailed look from the government, after the first movie as Tony Stark (Main Character in the comic and in the movies) creates a suit that gives him superhuman abilities, bulletproof metal, health monitoring system, the ability to fly, and many other things. Many fans of the Iron Man trilogy dream of the day when science fiction becomes reality. Officials from U.S. Special Operation Command issued a formal request to researchers to help them build this suit the military is calling the Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS). As the Army prepares for future wars, they want to research the Iron Man suit and develop a working suit by 2018. Even though the cost of building an Iron Man suit is too expensive, but the armor would help protect soldiers from the serious injuries of war by the medical/technological advancements, the abilities it gives to the operator, also it would change warfare.
Although many people could say that it would just be a waste of time because of the other military development failures, the national budget is shrinking. In the late 1990s, the U.S. government started work on a new type of spy satellite. The project cost U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars, but none of the satellites were built. The reason for t...

Following the conclusion of the Second World War, the United States and the Soviet Union made it a priority to outdo each other in every possible facet from arsenals of missiles to international alliances and spheres of influences. Yet when the Soviets launched Sputnik on October 4th, 1957, the world changed forever. The first manmade object was fired into space, and it appeared that American technology and science had fallen behind. Yet, the public feared that not only were they now technologically inferior to the Soviets, but also deduced that if a satellite could be launched into space, a nuclear missile could just as likely reach the mainland United States. Less than a month later, the Soviets pushed the bounds of technology yet again by
The Marine Corps Commandant General James L. Jones wants to lead the Marines into the 21st century with a new camouflage utility uniform. You may ask, why do the Marines need to differentiate their uniform from other branches; or why do the Marines need a new utility uniform at all. The answer to these questions can be summed up in two words: Forward Movement. Some Marines are having difficulties with the changes that have occurred as well as the changes that are coming.
This paper will not bore with the definition of a profession. The United States Army is about more than words, it is about action. The action of over 238 years of tradition and service. The Army is a profession. A profession requires its members to adhere to prolonged training and learn specialized skills. A member of a profession must wholly commit himself and his skills to a calling which is entrusted by the public. A profession provides its members with intrinsic value which motivates beyond financial gain. The Army is a higher calling which demands all of these qualities and more.

Making the suit is much easier than fighting Mandarin. Iron Man gets more skill by wearing the suit and learning how to use the suit. Iron Man’s greatest fear is the bits of shrapnel in his chest. Iron Man’s Abyss is when his suit is taken over. Iron Man’s revelation is when he develops a serious dependency of alcohol. At the beginning of his journey in the suit he is a bit cocky as well. “You’re not a man, you’re nothing- more than a manic. I’m not afraid of you, no politics here, just good old fashion revenge” (tony stark, google). Iron Man is wiser because he realized that you should never give up. His imbalance is fixed by making the suit and saving his life and the people around him. “I had my- eyes opened. I came to realize that i had more to offer this world than just making thing blow up” (tony stark, google). His injustice is fixed by making the suit. Iron Man’s gift is he gets his suit.
The Space Race is remarkably similar to that of the arms race because of the parallel between the creation of the atomic bomb and the goal of reaching the moon. The United States’ bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki effectively established its place as the technologically superior nation; however, major milestones in space achieved early by the Soviets damaged America’s reputation. In 1957, Soviet scientists shocked the world by successfully launching the Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite, beyond the Kármán Line (the boundary of space). This amazing breakthrough “rattled American self-confidence”. It cast doubts on America’s vaunted scientific superiority and raised some sobering military questions.”

There are many militaries throughout the world but the US Military is seen as the most professional and capable military in the world. We are perceived this way due to our rules and regulations that have branched from our fundamental principles and doctrine. Uniformity is one of our leading regulations in the military. Uniformity is what makes the military have a professional image. It is the basis of our instructions and regulations concerning the dress and appearance of our military personnel. Recently however, the Pentagon has decided that it is more important to accommodate certain groups of people then to have a professional and uniform military. On January 22nd 2014 the Pentagon passed a new policy that is easing up on the existing regulations by allowing beards, turbans, headscarf’s, tattoos and piercings of religious nature to be worn while in uniform (Pellerin, 2014). This new policy has started a heated debate about whether this is a good idea or not. I myself believe that this policy should not be allowed because it is undermining basic military values, lowering our standards on regulations, and it is a start to a new undesirable military force.
My interest in satellite surveillance did not really appear to after I saw the movie "Enemy of the State" in 1998. The synopsis of the movie is: Robert Dean (Will Smith) is a labor lawyer who is unknowingly in possession of evidence related to a serious politically motivated crime. Government agents eager to hide their guilt believe that Dean is on to them, and proceed to turn his life upside-down, ruin his reputation, and frame him for various incidents, thanks to the latest in high-tech government surveillance techniques. In an attempt to clear his name and reclaim his life, Dean teams up with the reclusive Brill (Gene Hackman), a former federal employee who has as much high-tech equipment and expertise as the government itself. Smith scores as a man who is desperate to reclaim his identity and prove his innocence. This intense technological thrill-ride from director Tony Scott questions how much access the government should have to the communications of private citizens, and leaves the viewer with the unsettling feeling that Big Brother is definitely watching. After this movie I was amazed that we have the capability in our hands to do this. I have two scenes from the movie that show the technology at work.
The creators of movies, video games, and comics allows us to apply the imagined technology we presently have and use it to adapt and create the physical technology of tomorrow. Stan Lee's creation of the Marvel character Iron Man is ideal imagined technology for protecting our military members bringing more troops home safely rather than in a body bag.
In today’s operational environments, the U.S. Army is facing a range of problems and mission sets that are arguably more complex than previously encountered. Forces face an array of demands that encompass geo-political, social, cultural, and military factors that interact in unpredictable ways. The inherent complexity of today’s operations has underscored the need for the Army to expand beyond its traditional approach to operational planning. In March 2010 in FM 5-0: The Operations
Since the early 1960’s image reconnaissance satellites have provided a safe, and almost undiscoverable, if not cost effective way of acquiring imagery of anywhere on the planet. This data was instrumental in the Cold War for determining the size, position, and readiness of Soviet ICBMs. Spy satellites continue to be key today allowing the United States to monitor almost the entire world in real-time.
