Argumentative Essay: Why School Sports Are Exceptional Students

Physical activity is important to most people, but others disagree with providing sports at school. In many different districts it is shown how youths that don't play sports have better grades than those who do play sports. Therefore, to help students become exceptional learners, their school should call off sports so teens can do their homework, schools don't spend large amounts of money, and parents and students regain their pride in academic achievements.

Sports keep students happy, but not all people agree with the idea of them in school. According to Amanda Ripley, she explains that when students are in sports they “don't get as much homework done as kids who are not in school sports (10). She also explains how when Premont School canceled sports more students passed their classes than when they were playing sports. This is important because teachers don't want to see their beloved students fail a class because they don’t have time to do simple homework assignments. Clearly, if students spend less time in school sports and more time on homework their grades will improve. …show more content…

In the article Amanda Ripley explains how schools spend thousands of dollars on grass for fields and bleachers to watch games(11). In addition to money being spent on the field, schools also have to pay for coaches, substitute teachers, and traveling game costs, which include hotels, buses, and meals. These are extremely ridiculous prices just for a simple baseball, or volleyball game. Obviously, schools don’t need this type of sports equipment for learning
