Police officers have been in the public eye these past couple years due to their use of deadly force. However, the public is not seeing police officers point of view of the situation and believe this is all due to racial issues. Just recently in the city of Chicago three police officers responded to a car cash where a man was under the influence of drugs and being very violent toward these officers. The three officers were beaten by this man even though they had all rights to use lethal force toward this gentlemen they didn't due to the issue that they didn't want to put the department in that situation. I believe that our police officers should be educated on using force without using deadly force. I can understand where police officers can become threatened when a civilian pulls a gun or begins refusing arrest. However, if someone in the general public decided to pull a gun on another stranger due to the idea of them feeling threatened this wouldn't be taken lightly because in the public eye this is still murder. Police officers carry around many different forms for self defense. They carry pepper spray, tasers, night stick, hand cuffs, and guns. Police officers are forced to go through academies teaching them how to use physical force along with their weapons. I believe the only time a police officer should be using deadly force toward another human is when the police officer sees the civilian go to use their gun to harm someone. If police officers were forced to go through more classes teaching them to use physical force and not deadly force the general public would trust officers more and feel much safer. The police departments should be forced to pay for this training due to the fact that if the general public becomes more trustworthy of our police officers, then the civilian on police crime would decrease. The public would be able to meet the officers who are patrolling their communities and keeping them safe from harm. If the community was able to meet officers and know who they were on a more personal level they could be able to inhabit more trust for them. The idea of having meet and greets if a very cheap idea. The officers could hold an open house at the police station or set up tents at local events like fairs, carnivals, or other local events. I hope with this idea people would become more trustworthy for their local officers and appreciate everything they do for
