Imagine walking into your home and seeing a mouse roaming around, your immediate thought is to get rid of it. You are either going to kill or put it outside, and then it will be a chain reaction. The animals you would kill in a heartbeat to save your home or because they're disgusting could save millions of lives. I am not happy that we have to test on animals just to make sure we get healthy. I understand that we need to test on animals, because it is unethical to test give experimental drugs on humans. Yes experimenting on humans would give you the most accurate representation of how a drug would work in a human body. Testing of experimental drugs can lead to more deaths, when all we are doing is trying to save lives.

There are many companies that specialize in the safety of animals that are tested. The association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS), ensures high quality standards for all animals and testing facilities. The United States Department For Agricultural (USDA), enforces the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) which was signed as a law in 1966, so that there are guidelines and policies that all facilities have to go by to make sure animals are treated with respect.When the USDA did a study on animal suffering, it showed that 94 % of the animals experienced no pain at all. Responsibilities of the testing facilities are to be inspected every six months, and are expected to check each animal. Scientists are not able to give animals anything that might cause them pain, and or stress in any way, without exhausting every potential cure that is pain-free. In no way are scientist able to use sheltered/ homeless animals because only valid data can be obtained by healthy and protected animals.
Animal testing has helped tremendously, so far with the treatments and cures that have come up with. Due to mice, cancer survival rates have continued to increase. Not every cancer is treatable yet, but because of the use of mice, scientist were able to find out a certain way to treat, other types of cancers.
