It is interesting how negative identity can be assigned through various classifications, including sports. Although some people might view sports simply as a form of physical activity and entertainment, I understand that others view sports as a pivotal part of identity. Taking from my own experience, I have a brother who identifies himself as a fan of a soccer team. By knowing how much being a supporter of the team means to him, I usually take a great care not to insult the soccer team or the fan club of the team. When I feel like I want to annoy him, I always know that I have a secret weapon to attack him verbally by associating negative attributes to his favorite sport team; however, I have never performed this strategy as I always prefer to criticize people based on their actions. …show more content…
