Public education has been concern over the years. People in the United States generally believe that public education should get more funding. The options were to raise taxes but that was not in the vote of people. The people who can change it the most, the parents of the students, can’t. Studies show that parents are horribly informed about their students education, not even knowing about the new standards, common core adopted 4 years ago. Statistics show that richer schools receive 15.6 percent more funds than poor schools. This is a national issue across the United states. Low income students graduate 74.6 percent on time, while high income students graduate 90 percent on time. Studies show that children who are in a low income household are most likely to not finish high school. Most of the motivation loss is from home, the kids do not have everyday basics such as food, clothing or school supplies. Kids will even miss school if it is raining outside because they do not have an umbrella. If a student does get a high school diploma gender plays a role. Females with a high school diploma will earn $10,000 less than their male peers who also have a high school diploma. Without a diploma males earn close to $35,000 and female earning about $25,000. “In 1973 high school diplomas were eligible for 40 percent of jobs and 32 percent for high school dropouts.” During the year of 2015 only 22 percent of jobs were available to those with a high school diploma and 10 percent for high school drop outs.” If a student goes to college they face another issue, student loans. If these students come from low income family who can earn less than $20,000 a year, how can they afford an average of 37,172 student loan debt? High income families can face the same issue but it is more likely they can afford the yearly
