Project Censored is a news based organization that focuses on presenting free and uncensored press to the public, and in particular, students. Project Censored looks at the underreported stories around the United States. It is very important that reasons behind why some stories do not make mainstream media should come to light. It is interesting that now with social media and the internet, more of these underreported stories are coming to light. My interest in this type of watchdog came about quite recently. Much of my news these days comes from Twitter and it has caused me to react and view some stories that the traditional news media would not have shown me. It is important for viewers to get more stories, and more sides of the stories.

The group wants fair and uncensored media and they believe that it is the right of the viewer to get every opinion and fact available. On another level, Project Censored looks at the responsibility in journalism. This particular watchdog group thinks that it is their responsibility to the public to give them the news that the media has failed in their responsibility to provide to viewers. It is the journalists responsibility to provide truthful, factual, and unbiased news. Although, in my opinion, Project Censored has a few biases. I think it becomes a relevant point because of our discussion in class. It is hard to stay completely unbiased and I think Project Censored proves that. Project Censored is biased towards the stories that the media has not shown. They want to get other stories out to everyone, but they try to stay away from stories that are well
