Hunter VanDresar Our invasive government is second to none in New York State on our economic system? The economic system of today is broken; our state needs to believe in their citizens. Our state isn’t doing that, it has there foot on our throats and we are desperate for air. The state isn’t ours any more; the governor of our state isn’t listening to our protests.
On January 16th 2013, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the Secure Ammunition Firearms Enforcement Act (SAFE ACT), which was a slap in the face for all responsible New Yorkers to protect themselves. New York State is becoming a dictatorship; if we as responsible citizens of this state want to put more than seven rounds in our guns then we are considered under The “SAFE ACT” as criminals. …show more content…

The government isn’t the answer, government is the problem. Gun Control is never the answer, look at the whole picture before this law took effect. The gun company Olympic Arms made it very clear in a statement that they will not sell to anyone in New York State, nor the state itself. In a statement here it states on their Facebook page “No New York State government entity or employee of such an entity will be served as customers” (Cooper, Mike. "New York Gun Ban). LaRue Tactical has their own pathway for the safe act; the company is “it’s simply not worth the risk of accidentally selling a firearm to anyone in New York. So they won’t sell to anyone in New York- including police” (Cooper, Mike. "New York Gun Ban). Well there goes our state sales taxes, these companies won’t even sell to citizens within New York State because of the stupid safe act law. The safe act has to be repealed. New York is becoming a dictatorship with Governor Andrew Cuomo steering us for the cliff of no return. This state is becoming a dictatorship because the government is telling the citizens of New York that a 7 round clip is ok, and an 8 round isn’t. A person can do as much harm with seven as eight rounds but, truly there is a difference, one is legal to have and one isn’t. If one has an 8 round clip in New York State it is illegal. According to the governor’s press release, this law would ban the possession of the pre 1994 high powered magazines. Also the owners of these clips would be required to sell them out of the state within a year. The remaining high capacity rounds can stay in New York but, they have to be loaded within the regulations, 7 rounds only. The people in New York State also have to reregister their firearms such to the people that own handguns and assault weapons would have to reregister their firearms every 5 years
