Contention: There is no such thing as a gender pay gap as any wage differences are due to occupational choices people make.
"In 2015, women working full time in the United States typically were paid just 80 percent of what men were paid, a gap of 20 percent?" (Miller, 2016). This shocking statistic brought up the controversy discussion of the gender pay gap in the world and creates the idea of women being paid lesser than men. Although some people believe that gender pay gap is mainly caused by discrimination on women towards men in the workplace, I strongly oppose this idea that there is such thing as gender pay gap because the wage differences are caused by the occupational choices that people make. Also, the idea of gender pay gap is commonly used by politicians and the statistics that they are using are also mostly unreliable. Furthermore, the fact that individuals that are working earn differently from another person because of various reasons deny the fact that everyone must get the same amount of wage as they work differently.

Most company will equally pay their workers based on each individual performance. Therefore, it is not a malpractice when a company paid more to those who are willing to work after hours and those who willing to relocate flexibly. Still, men in a whole are more considerate with these conditions. For example, male nurses, on the whole, earn 18percents more than female nurses. The reasons for that is because male nurses gravitate to the best paying specialities, they willingly work extra hours and disproportionally find jobs in cities with the highest payments.
