I am nominating Fa Mulan for the Hero Hall of Fame. Mulan is the perfect candidate, she has all of the qualities that an amazing hero needs, she is persistent, kind, intelligent, brave, and selfless. However, if you need convincing about Mulan, or are unaware of her journey, continue to read on. Mulan’s heroic journey started when her father was drafted for the army, to defend China. Her father was older and even struggled with walking, remarkably Mulan pretended to a man and took her father’s place in the army. Performing this was incredibly brave, do too the fact that in China this action was punishable by death. Pretending to be a man, including taking her father’s place in the army, was insanely selfless. Mulan’s decision put her own life in danger, nevertheless she focused on her father’s safety instead of her own. As soon as Mulan started her army training she was pushed to her limits. She was even told to quit by her commanding general, nevertheless she persevered through training. Mulan is insanely amazing at problem-solving, instead of just shooting the leader of the Huns, she shot the mountain above them which plummeted onto the entire Hun army. She proved to the people of China that if a woman's dream included being in the army than that could happen, and she had the ability to thrive. Revolutionarily proving that gender roles and stereotypes are nonsense and do not define you. Mulan was the first Disney princess that did not need a man to be her salvation. Even Mulan when she struggled, she never backed down. She brought out the best in others, during her training and when she got stronger everyone else got stronger, people fed off of her bravery and strength, which improved the state of the entire army. Overall, “Mulan” does an outstanding job of portraying the popular story telling of the hero’s journey. Creators are still, to this day, using the easy pathway of the hero’s journey because it is easy to understand as long as all of the steps are met. This brings people of all sorts of cultures and religions to come together to sit back and enjoy a story
Mulan goes through being rescued when she fights Shan-Yu on top of the roof of the Emperor’s palace and Mushu helps Mulan pin Shan-Yu down and blow him up with fireworks. Mulan‘s ego decreases when Mushu successfully tries to help her get rid of Shan-Yu. She considers herself a hero now and does not want Mushu to think she cannot fight her own battles. Mulan in the end disregards her ego in order for her to not die on the roof. Mulan crosses the final threshold when she returns to her home with the gifts from the Emperor hoping her family will forgive her for leaving the family to go fight in the war. Her father accepts Mulan’s new power and wisdom and told her that, “The greatest gift and honor is having you for a daughter.” Mulan’s return to the past is pleasant and safe knowing that nothing can change her family’s love and affection for her. In addition, Mulan enters into the final step in the hero’s journey: the freedom to live. Mulan shows her freedom to live when she invites her soul mate, Li-Shang for dinner. This event marks the end of Mulan dwelling on the past and makes her excited, but not concerned about what the future
Many students who are enrolled in FFA are already heading in the right direction to a bright future. FFA has many career benefits within the program. Any of the career development events (CDE’s) have something that will tie to a career in agriculture or to a career of other sorts. According to the National FFA Organization, “FFA members embrace concepts taught in agricultural science classrooms nationwide, build valuable skills through hands-on experiential learning and each year demonstrate their proficiency in competitions based on real-world agricultural skills”(“Statistics”). There are so many careers that tie into FFA, and many of them have to do with agriculture. Not every career that has to do with agriculture is about farming. In Walt Disney Pictures’ Mulan, Disney attempts to retell the story of Chinese heroine, Hua Mulan, who is described in the Chinese poem, The Ballad of Mulan .The legend begins by telling the story an old man, who has no elder sons, who has been called up to fight in the Chinese army. Knowing that her father will likely face death, Mulan concedes to fight in his place and pretend to be a man, unbeknownest to her fellow soldiers. The movie builds off this premise as we are told the fictional account of Mulan’s life from before she took her father’s place to after.

The Crucible by Arthur Miller begins and ends with one-sided accusations of witchcraft. It all results from a group of girls who had been dancing in the woods. Tan includes a direct quote from her mother in paragraph six of the reading, and she does not shorten it for an important reason. Tan decides to keep the entire quote instead of paraphrasing to add an effect that a reader can only understand with the full quote. It shows that even though some people speak the language of English it is hard for others to understand based on the person’s full understanding and comprehension of the language. In Tan’s case she is used to the way her mother speaks and uses the language, but to others it is almost impossible to understand. If it were not for Tan summarizing what the quote meant before putting it in the text, few readers would have understood what the mother was trying to convey with her use of the language. Tan’s strategy in including this direct quotation is to show that language differs from person to person even if they all speak the same language. She is implying that the whole world could speak English; however, it would not be the same type of English because of how everyone learns and how others around

Pierre Edel has gauged ears and tattoos all over his body. Although he looks intimidating, he has a voice that mesmerizes people. He recently appeared on a show called "The Voice: Ukraine." He wowed judges with his rendition of the Led Zeppellin classic "A Whole Lotta Love." When he first walked on the stage, you can tell that the audition was a little intimidated by his appearance.

The film Mulan retold the story of a woman warrior who took her father’s place in battle and became a savior of China.The movie uses many elements from the original story told in the chapter “White Tigers,” but adds many modern twists in order to make the story more appealing for a newer generation. Overall, the Disney movie, Mulan, demonstrates gender roles, socialization of gender roles, and consequences of breaking the gender roles. By Mulan going to war for her father, in China, many things were at risk, life, honor, and the country of China, itself. Displaying the characteristics a man had was the only way for Mulan to survive, granted, she was not great at displaying woman characteristics in the first place. Being caught in war, as a woman, meant death, but Mulan was lucky for her bravery when saving Captain Li Shang, for he spared her life, which allowed Mulan to help save China and the emperor in the end. Even though China had very strict gender roles, Mulan broke them to save her father’s life and became the person she was meant to be.
Zia’s main point in using Mulan as part of her argument for the good of Disney movies is saying that Mulan is an example of how hard work and determination will pay off in the end. The movie may appear to give this message to young kids but do not forget how she found this courage she needed. However, it is with the help of magic the Mulan accomplishes this great feat. When Mulan left for training her ancestors came alive to help decide what to do to help Mulan. They called on Mushu, a tiny little dragon, to awaken the great dragon to help Mulan conquer the difficulties that lie ahead. When he fails, Mushu himself goes to aid Mulan. Mulan dresses the part of a male soldier, but through inception into the army learns how she is expected to act the part. The movie shows us that regardless of the gender roles Mulan chooses, she still must play the part and act in a way that is acceptable by her peers and family. She learns to act like a soldier and receives acceptance from her comrades. People can follow this example and take on a gender roles that may be different than their sex.
The classic Disney movie, Mulan, is often praised as a film involving feminist empowerment, but upon closer look just the opposite appears to be true. The classic storyline includes Mulan, a young Chinese woman, taking over her fragile father’s place in the Chinese army, disguised as a man named Ping. She trains among the other soldiers, becoming one of the very best with her accompanying guardian dragon, Mushu and a cricket her grandmother gave her for luck for the matchmakers by her side. She ends up saving all of China by revealing that the Huns are back and invading the country, and is honored as a hero. This movie breaks away from the typical damsel in distress princess story by having a single woman save all of China. However, on Mulan’s journey she faced extreme female shaming, and experienced stereotypes attempting to belittle her; all
