Recommended: Ethics behind genetic engineering

Introduction
“Designer Baby” is the term used to encompass the idea of genetically modifying humans, specifically embryos. It is currently possible to make small genetic changes or selections to embryos, however, in the near future the ability to change a human’s DNA may allow for large changes to occur; changes that would have an overwhelming effect on society.
The idea that you could “design” a baby to be exactly the way you want; a child with no abnormalities, no illness and some peoples mind “perfect” leads to many strings of debate. Is this playing God where value is placed on certain predetermined qualities? Is there value in looking at this as an option in the future with restrictions attached? The cost could be extensive not only in a monetary way but perhaps ultimately as we know the human race.
