Recommended: Pros and cons of free college

Many people deem college a necessity, however not everyone can afford to attend. Every year thousands of students are forced to drop out due to the cost of tuition. Some students can’t even afford to enroll! While there are federal and private programs that can aid students when paying for college, they’re far from perfect. Taking part in these programs will more than likely leave a student thousands of dollars in debt. There are mainly two types of people that attend college, those who pay their tuition through grants and scholarships, and those who are willing to take on substantial amounts of debt. This is a huge problem because it means that the millions of Americans who can’t afford to college are now unable to attend what most of society …show more content…

It’s common for college students to work two jobs or take out multiple loans in order to help pay their school fees, but what happens when after all that they still can’t pay their tuition? To put it bluntly, they have no choice but to pack up their bags and return home. Many college students are forced to drop out because they can’t afford to pay their tuition, some have no choice but to drop out just a couple of months before they were supposed to earn their degree! If Congress passed a law making public college free, stories of college students involuntarily dropping out in the middle of their studies would become much less common. Also, if students didn’t have to spend their time working to pay their schools fees, they would have more time to devote to their studies. Working just one job can eat into a student’s study time making their life harder. With more time to study, less students would be academically dismissed or drop out due to their grades. A student shouldn’t be forced to stop learning just because they can’t afford to, it should be up to the student to decide how far he or she wants to go in life not his or her bank
