Argument Against Global Warming

The Earth's climate has changed significantly throughout history. In the last 700,000 years there have been seven cycles of glacial advance and retreat. With the abrupt end of the last ice age approximately 7,000 years ago the beginning of the modern climate era was born. In the last century the global sea level has risen 17cm. All three major global surface temperature reconstructions show that Earth has warmed since 1880. Most of this warming has occurred since the 1970s, with the 20 warmest years, having occurred since 1981 and with all 10 of the warmest years occurring in the past 12 years. Although this is true to some extent, most major newspapers and television news stations report the same stories quantitatively. Global warming is more controversial than ever. On one side of the argument we have scientists, climate change campaigners and the greater majority of the earth’s population who recognise the significance in preserving and taking immediate action against global warming. The media have targeted these people using figurative and emotive language that exploits our morals and values to evoke our willingness for change.
On the other side of the argument we have the global warming sceptics, the anti-climate change activists and the remainder of the population, which believes in the “Global warming is fake propaganda”. The media have targeted these people using the same techniques as stated above to brainwash the gullible into believing that global warming doesn’t exist.
As referenced in Al Gores ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ 97% of the peer reviewed scientific reports regarding global warming within the scientific community, determined that global warming is an undeniable fact. The majority of the world’s population is not exposed to this scientific evidence; only the media's interpretation and distortion of the facts based on the head of their organisations
