Over the years there has been questions that people are asking if we are alone. Scientists have been seeking evidence of extraterrestrial life in the past half century. There have been many sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) seen by the people around the world. Scientists state that intelligent extraterrestrial life almost certainly exists.
Are We Alone?
Life may had existed on Mars because it was a habitable world. In 2004, this discovery was made NASA's Opportunity rover at Eagle Crater that Mars had water. At the Martian surface there was liquid water, and if there was water that means that living organisms like bacteria, may have existed on Mars. Many scientists believe water did existed on the planet because three NASA rovers found rocks with appearance of channels, streams and even oceans spotted by orbiting satellites. A question was brought up to Richard Quinn, a SETI Institute researcher with Ames' Planetary Systems Branch, if Mars was a habitable environment? "Based on what we know about life in extreme environments, interpretations of mission results indicate that we are currently exploring habitable ancient environments on Mars, and I believe that these are solid interpretation...The question is about preservation potential of bio signature rather than intrinsic habitability of the ancient environment." (Quinn, The Daily Galaxy)
Studies shows that extraterrestrial life can come from dying stars. Dying stars can support planets with life. This study comes from a new theory study of earth orbiting white dwarf stars. When a star dies, it puffs off its outer layers, leaving behind a hot core called a white dwarf. A white dwarf air contains water vapor, or even signatures of life, such as oxygen. Abbie Lo...

In July 13, 1860, everyone in the city of Wilmington, Delaware, looked upon the sky and appeared to be a 200 foot long blue flying object about 100 feet in the air above them. A news reporter in the Wilmington Tribune reported that the object "moved in a straight line without any inclination downwards" and gave off "sparkles in the manner of a rocket."
The UFO apparently had an entourage. It was preceded by a pitch-black cloud flying in front. And bringing up the rear, about 100 feet (30 meters) apart, were three "very red and glowing balls." As the object turned toward the southeast over the Delaware River, a fourth red glowing ball appeared. After eight minutes, the mysterious object turned east and disappeared from view, according to "The UFO Book of Lists."
Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) A flying or apparently flying object of an unknown nature, especially one suspected to have been sent by extraterrestrial beings 2. A flying saucer
Around June 25th, 1947 a pilot, Ken Arnold had reported strange objects in the sky while flying near Mt. Rainer, Washington. He stated that they flew like "saucers being skipped over water." This was where the term "Flying Saucers" derived from. The Roswell UFO Incident all started on the evening of July 3, 1947, Dan Wilmot and his wife were sitting on their front porch when they saw the distinct shape of a saucer flying through the sky. A few days prior to this sighting, military radar in the area was tracking an Unidentified Flying Object for four days. On Independence Day the radar indicated that the object had gone down about 30-40 miles Northwest of Roswell. A few days after the actual sighting from the Wilmot's, W.W. Brazel, the Foreman of the J.B. Foster Ranch went to check on his sheep after some intense thunderstorms the night prior. He happened to discover a very large amount of debris of an unknown metallic substance scattered throughout the field. It was also stated that he stumbled across a shallow trench in the ground that stretched hundreds of feet. Brazel would gather some of this debris to show family and friends. A few days after he would contact sheriff Wilcox of Chaves County. Once Wilcox had the information he needed, he contacted the Roswell Army Air Force Base, where Major Jessie Marcel was briefed to look int...
A UFO fell in Roswell New Mexico in late June or early July in 1947. The day after a fierce thunderstorm, rancher W. W. “Mack” Brazel went out with his son on horses to go check on sheep. While he was out riding, he noticed strange metal debris scattered over a large part of his ranch. As he inspected the land, he saw a huge trench several hundred feet long gouged out of the earth. He decided to gather some the unusual material he saw and took it back home with him to ...
Paranormal Activity is similar to pseudoscience and involves experiences outside of science (Hines, 2003). However, there is another side to these strange occurrences which includes UFOs, alien contact, and the appearance of unusual creatures. According to Imbrogno (2008) “No matter how skeptical you are, there are three things that cannot be denied: that reports of paranormal experiences exist, that they persist, and they are increasingly occurring on a global scale” (pg.16). According to Hines (2003) “Paranormal phenomena includes extrasensory perception (ESP), telekinesis, ghosts, poltergeists, life after death, reincarnation, faith healing, human auras, and so forth” (pg.20). The term UFOs, unidentified flying objects, is the reported sighting of any object or arrangement of lights that do not have a logical or natural explanation. The first reported incident in America occurred in 1947, when an amateur pilot, Kenneth Arnold, made claims of a sighting while flying his small plane near Mount Rainier in Washington which caused the U.S. government to begin searching for extraterrestrials (Stephey, 2009). Moreover, Chinese texts from the 4th century make claims of a “moon boat” that visited once every 12 years hovering above the country to become the earliest sighting in recorded history (Stephey, 2009). Although issues such as speed, shape, and size continues to differs, the U.S. Air Force commissioned Project Blue Book, an official record of sights that occurred in the U.S. from 1952 to 1969 logging over 12,000 sightings or events involving UFOs.
Some time in July of 1947, a mysterious flying object zigzagged across the skies of New Mexico. Within twenty-four hours the object disappeared from radar just as mysteriously as it had appeared. It was last seen in a small town in the middle of the Arizona desert, it’s name, Roswell.
For the past fifty years we have been exploring the planet Mars. We have been observing it through telescopes and by sending rovers such as Opportunity, Spirit and Curiosity. Spirit and Opportunity found minerals that can only be created in the presence of water and by using Curiosity astronomers were able to figure out that Mars once had liquid water, enough energy, and enough materials that could have allowed life to form. This research and many others have allowed us to come up with a few “indicators” of life that we could see from space. We can look at the size of the star in it’s solar system, the size of the planet, the closeness of the planet to its star, the color of the star, and the color of the planet( because certain chemicals reflect different colors) in order to find good “candidates” for life. However if we do ever find life it will most likely be tiny bacteria and not the intelligent life that our society has imagined. It has been proven that the science fiction is false and UFOs have not landed on Earth. We know this because they have never been reported by an actual astronomer and they have never left and physical evidence. However this does not mean that there are no intelligent civilizations out there or that astronomers are not searching for them. We are currently looking and
Intelligent life outside of Earth is one of the most debated topics in The United States of America. There are plenty of shows on television about it and supposedly there has been thousands of sightings all throughout America. Our government is thought of to have encountered and held extraterrestrials. Area 51 is where everyone theorizes that we hold and run tests on aliens, even though there is little evidence. There are also ancient stories told about “gods” coming down and doing inhuman things. In cave paintings you can find UFOs in the pictures, even back then they somehow knew of these flying objects. Most people do not want to recognize that our universe is so vast it would be more likely that there is intelligent life out there than there is not. It is possible that the general population is afraid to acknowledge Aliens’ existence because they cannot imagine a species being more advanced and smarter than us. Another reason people fail to recognize them is because the media has made these “creatures” very far fetched with
Through experiments, scientists have been able to produce the necessary conditions for life to be sustained. “Levy et al. found that amino acids were produced abiotically in a frozen NH4CH solution while Martins et al. showed the formation of several amino acids through a process called impact shock synthesis. Hydrocarbons can be synthesized by chemical reactions simulating high-pressure/temperature conditions (Fischer-Tropsch reactions), and nucleobases have been shown to form under simulated prebiotic conditions, with formamide (HCONH2) as the precursor molecule, which may have been available on the early Earth.” [1] However, when searching for molecular traces of life on other terrestrial bodies, such as Mars, one must take great care to distinguish between abiotic and biotic
An unidentified flying object, UFO is “an object or light, reportedly seen in the sky, whose appearance, trajectory, and general dynamic and luminescent behavior do not readily suggest a logical, conventional explanation” (UFO). According to general belief, UFOs are spaceships, belonging to extraterrestrial life, or aliens. However, it is important to note that all unidentified objects in the sky need not necessarily belong to aliens. Many UFOs mistaken to be spaceships were actually found to be weather balloons or military airplanes. There have been many instances, however, where the appearance of a UFO could not be explained based on rational terrestrial phenomena, and it is believed that these can only be alien spacecrafts or flying saucers. Many instances of alien sightings on earth, have also been reported. For instance, a farmer and two members of the Mutual UFO Network, MUFON were reported to have seen a three-foot tall alien in Southeast US (Keen). In another event that occurred about 69 years ago over Los Angeles during the Second World War, a seeming...
The theory that life can possibly exist on another planet is an exciting idea. The search for extraterrestrial life has been looked over countless times. So many people believe that there is life beyond planet earth, many others have realistic expectations to this theory. They simply just believe that this theory has no evidence to be prove that there is any extra-terrestrial intelligence anywhere in the universe.
Undoubtedly, with over 10 000 cases, the sheer amount of reported UFO sightings and abductions is startling. In July 1947, an airborne object crashed on a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico. Rancher Mac Braezel examined the debris which appeared to be mostly metallic and plastic scraps. However, it was damaged beyond identification of its origin. He brought some of the material to his neighbours who attempted burning it, cutting it, and yet, it would not be damaged. They also tried bending it, too which it would dent momentarily before peculiarly molding back to its original form. Mac hurriedly contacted the local sheriff, who then, in disbelief, contacted two military officers to the debris field, also in dubiety, they brought some of the material they had found to the Roswell Army Air Base. Shortly thereafter, another local along with some students on an expedition, discovered a disk-shaped aircraft about two miles from the debris field, which had four small humanoid bodies scattered around its vicinity....
Mars is a very similar planet to earth in relation to size and atmosphere. Therefore it seemed like the most likely place to search for life. At the end of the 19th century, an American named Percival Lowell built himself an observatory so that it was possible for him to study Mars in intimate detail when its orbit was closest to Earth. At this time it had recently been suggested that the planet had a system of channels on the surface, present from the evaporation of flowing water. Looking through his telescope Lowell became convinced he could see a network of artificial canals. This led him to believe that there were intelligent beings on Mars who had built these canals. However, spacecraft have now visited Mars and found that there is no evidence of water at all. It is now thought that the lines he could see were the combination of Lowell's overactive imagination, and scratches on the lens of his telescope. We are now searching one of Jupiter's moons, Europa, as this seems to be the next likely place to hold life.
Oftentimes, people ignore rhetoric regarding the possibility of life on other planets. This may be for religious reasons or because many people see it as more science fiction that scientific, but there is a substantial difference between Hollywood’s perception of aliens and what is likely to be the first extraterrestrial life discovered (Borenstein). In all reality, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and a few other basic elements are all it takes to create the miracle of life, and these chemicals could exist in countless places other than earth (Bryson 2). Some life may not even require that, like the microbe found in a lake in California, which was able to survive on arsenic and phosphorus alone (Borenstein). According to Borenstein, the “life” that scientists are looking for is more accurately described as a life form or microbial slime, much like the microbes that became humans via evolution.
