Recently there has been a big controversy about if competitive sports are good or bad for kids. But competitive sports can also be bad because of all different types of injures players can get. I think competitive sports are good because it helps with kids building building character, physical and mental health, and lastly life lessons.

First competitive sports are good is it builds character in kids are sometimes you can only learn certain things from sports like what hard work is. Learn lessons so later in life when you have job you have learned life lessons through sports allready. Also you learn that if you want to succeed in life you have to work hard to earn that job or starting spot on the team nothing is handed directly to anybody.

But the other side says that you can sustain life lasting injuries like concussions and body shape. But when you leave competitive sports even at high school if you stop you have already learned lots.When most NFL players when they leave the league they have already found out how to fight though the injuries they have suffered in their career for example James Harrison linebacker on the Pittsburgh Steelers he is 38 and he says “I spends 350 thousand dollars on my body a year and I’m growing strong than I have ever been” but he is learning how to fight though his injures that he has got.(ESPN; NFL)

In conclusion competitive are good for kids because builds character, physical and mental health are improved, and life lessons are learned. Sports are good thing in middle schools because they give confidence in kids that have never felt very confident and know they have their team on there back helping
