People conform to their own lengths and are defined by social pressure. Society grants people to be themselves but under certain circumstances that everyone must obey ; For instance proper lengths in shorts and skirts, but alas, people only conform to feel more comfortable and when it's by authority, they have only limited power.

When we conform in society, we should only use it to casually uneasy and uncomfortable situations to their own liking. In the article, “You are a Conformist “ by Noam Shpancer, the quote “I tell the remaining students in class that their task is to avoid all contact and interaction with the volunteers. I promise them points on the next test if they succeed” (Shpancer p3).
This proved that even though the reward will benefit them, and they must disregard the volunteers feelings, they obey the authority figure in the room. …show more content…

Normally, believing we will be rewarded with freedom and safety if we submit to those with higher power.

Although conforming gives security, it also offers harm towards others if you use it against them.
Peer pressure is very common and is only caused by conformity. In the short story, “The Lottery”, the quote “This isn't fair, it isn’t right” (Jackson p10). Proving that after all those years of not questioning the sovereignty and then getting picked made her realize that killing innocent life is completely wrong. Another quote, “‘Be a good sport, Tessie’ said Mrs. Delacroix, and Mr. Graves said ‘All of us took the same chance’”(Jackson p5). This states that they all force each other to do the lottery, when anyone is too nervous or don’t want to join, they shunned them to make them feel guilty.

Though others may say that conformity and peer pressure are a part of our daily lives, and is healthy to share with others, conforming only to peer pressure isn’t
