About Jag Mandir
A palatial palace standing beautifully amidst the island of Lake Pichola is the Jag Mandir Palace. A picture perfect beauty, the place adds glory to the city of Udaipur. The three storied magnificent palace is made up of yellow sandstone and marble. The construction of which was done by three different Maharanas of Mewar dynasty.

The Aravalis at the backdrop simply add charm to the serenity the palace offers. The pavilion to the palatial palace is welcomed by eight elephants, four on each side of the entry steps. Jag Mandir has a series of impressive structures in its three storey structure, comprising of Gul mahal, the Garden courtyard, the Darikhana, Bara Pathron Ka mahal, the Zenana Mahal and the Kunwar Pada ka Mahal. Each extension to this masterpiece has its own beauty. Intricate designs and carvings, painting and extensive use of fine art add more beauty and grace to this palace. The palace has beautiful gardens surrounded by palm trees, roses, jasmine flowers and bougainvillea’s.
History
The history of Jag Mandir dates back to the 17th century. The palace is reminiscent of the Mughal era adding to its rich historical past. History says that Jag Mandir came into being because of Maharana Karan Singh Ji as an act of kindness towards Prince Khurram, later known as Shah Jahan.
