The Apache Indians of North America prospered for years throughout Kansas, New Mexico, and Arizona. They were a religious society who believed in a “giver of life';. As any complex society today, The Apache had many inter-tribal differences, although the tribe as a whole was able to see through these conflicts. Women and the extended family played an important role in the society and also in the lives of young children. Groups of different extended families, called bands, often lived together and functioned democratically. The Apache also evolved as the coming of the white man changed their lives. These Indians became adept at using horses and guns, both introduced to them by the coming settlers. As with most Indian tribes in North America the lives of the Apache were destroyed as their life-blood, the buffalo were slaughtered by the whites. The Apache were forced into surrender after years of struggle. One leader, Geronimo, was especially hard for the whites to capture. After years of evading white soldiers Geronimo was taken to Florida and treated as a prisoner of war. Government sponsored assimilation saw English forced upon the Apache robbing them of their culture. In 1934 The Indian Recognition Act helped establish the Indian culture as a recognized way of life. This act gave the Apache land, which the Apache in turn used for ranching. The destruction of the Apache culture was not recoverable and saw the Apache lose much of their language.
The documentary on the Apache was very well done. The Indians of North America series, produced by Chelsea House, seems to be a very well thought-out series and the film on the Apache was no exception. The film moved quickly throughout the life and times of the Apache. This film, as no surprise, is a great educational tool. I felt that the life of Geronimo, the best-known Apache throughout history, could have been examined a little more carefully.
The Cherokee
The story of the Cherokee Indians was probably the most disturbing of any we have seen so far. The Cherokee were the most unfortunate of the North American Indian solely because the lived on the Eastern half of the United States. Their geographical location left them to be the first major tribe to come in contact with the white men. The Cherokees saw one man, Andrew Jackson, as a sole enemy. Jackson, ignoring, a treaty President Washington had signed, waged war on the Cherokee.
In the 1990’s, Harley Davidson saw tremendous growth and looked for resolutions to its one problem of balancing production with its soaring demand. In 1996, Harley announced “Plan 2003”. “Plan 2003” was a huge undertaking to increase its production capacity, introduce several new models and increase international expansion. At the end of this planned expansionary period, Harley’s sales had grown tenfold over just 23 years. However in 2007, domestic demand was starting to slip, as several economical factors...
When the Dream Act is put into play, its positive effects are more numerous than the negative ones. With this act, undocumented children are given an education and a future. What is better than an educated America? With education, America can be even more dominant. Everyone, despite their legal classification, deserves to have the option of success. On the matter of money, taxpayers would not have to pay $16.2 billion annually on behalf of deportation fees. With these children growing to be citizens, they will have to pay taxes which will also help the growing deficit. America was born on the morale that all people deserve a safe asylum and freedom.

So we want to do right but we make our choices on the knowledge that we have at that very moment. I think Descartes is saying that if we had more knowledge at that very moment when we have the choice to do better that we would choose better. We also have the freedom at any time to gain more knowledge and it is a choice or “free will” to learn so that when it is time we will know the right choice to make. Descartes states, so what then is the source of my mistakes? It must be simply this: the scope of the will is wider than that of the intellect; but instead of restricting it within the same limits, I extend its use to matters which I do not understand.” Descartes broke it down into simple pieces the mind, his body parts, his senses only dealing with facts and still proving that all of those things lead to God and it is not God who drives us to sin it is our knowledge and free will that causes our
The lives of millions of immigrants are affected everyday due to limited access to acquiring legal citizenship. Out of that group there are 2.1 million children and young adults under the age of 18 that are eligible for permanent citizenship at this time (The DREAM Act). In 2001 Dick Durbin and Orrin Hatch presented a Development Relief and Education of Alien Minors (DREAM) Act that provides a path to becoming a legal citizen. The DREAM Act has yet to be passed, but there is a temporary Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)(The DREAM Act). The DREAM Act will provide options and opportunities for people to continue their path of life in America. The DREAM Act should be passed as it will benefit our economy, positively affect and strengthen our military, along with increased access to education.
Towards the development of the United States of America there has always been a question of the placement of the Native Americans in society. Throughout time, the Natives have been treated differently like an individual nation granted free by the U.S. as equal U.S. citizens, yet not treated as equal. In 1783 when the U.S. gained their independence from Great Britain not only did they gain land from the Appalachian Mountains but conflict over the Indian policy and what their choice was to do with them and their land was in effect. All the way from the first presidents of the U.S. to later in the late 19th century the treatment of the Natives has always been changing. The Native Americans have always been treated like different beings, or savages, and have always been tricked to signing false treaties accompanying the loss of their homes and even death happened amongst tribes. In the period of the late 19th century, The U.S. government was becoming more and more unbeatable making the Natives move by force and sign false treaties. This did not account for the seizing of land the government imposed at any given time (Boxer 2009).

Each year in late spring thousands of young students are graduating from high school and are looking forward to begin college. Most students have chosen what college they are going to, have packed and are ready to go and accomplish their dreams. However, there are thousands of students that graduate each year, that have dreams as big as their classmates and will never know what it is like to attend to a college or even visit a college campus. But they have hope that their dreams can be accomplish by passing the Dream Act. There are many reasons why this law should be pass not only would it improve the economy by creating new jobs, but it will help undocumented students accomplish their dreams, and show what a great nation the Unites States is.
The DREAM Act legislation should pass and become a law; in a way this will be beneficial for both parties involved, for the young immigrants and for the U.S. If this is not possible an alternative should be sought out. The DREAM Act could be embedded into a comprehensive immigration reform, or the government can look to give the dreamers and other immigrant’s temporary legal status. “The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act would offer the undocumented youth the chance at legal reside...
There are many undocumented immigrant youth that don’t have the chance to become a greater contribution to the American society. Mostly as a result of the reason they have no legal status to live in the United States. That is why the DREAM act should be enacted, considering it will give those immigrants a chance to fully contribute, and benefit this great country. One of many reasons that the DREAM act should be passed is, young immigrants who had no choice but to come to this country will have a chance to obtain temporary residency status. The second reason being, it will bring a plethora of economic and workforce boost. Lastly, immigrants who want to serve this great country will finally be able to join any branch of the military forces.
Understanding Descartes’ philosophy begins with understanding his method of doubt. Think about it like this. Almost everything you believe to be true comes from the senses or through the senses. However, the senses are sometimes deceptive. Since the senses are not completely trustworthy, it is irrational to place complete trust in them. However it is no small leap of faith to presume that everything our senses tells us is false. In fact, it seems almost preposterous to say such a thing. But as Descartes points out, we have dreams regularly and in these dreams everything we experience is a figment of our imagination, or at least not real in the physical sense. So, at least according to Descartes, it is reasonable to doubt everything our senses tell us, for the time being. Now, using similar logic, we can say that everything we have learned from physics, astronomy, medicine, and other such fields are all doubtful. Descartes even believed we could say that such simple, logical statements as 2+3 = 5 or a square has 4 sides could be conceived to be false. “Since I judge that others sometimes make mistakes in matters that they believe they know most perfectly, may I not, in like fashion, be deceived every time I add two and three or count the sides of a square…'; We are now at the point where we are doubting everything – the world around us, that we have a body, and anything else that we could possibly...

Harley Davidson had shown and brought great accomplishments to the table in its history as a very notable motorcycle manufacturer, wholesaler, and reproducer since the early 1900’s. In the early years of its time, the market accounted for 70% of all bikes sold that were bought from Harley Davidson. During the 1960’s, the invasion of Honda started to take its toll on the market of Harley Davidson here in the United States. Honda instituted a strategy that focused the approach directly on the new customer satisfaction toward a new customer. This would lead to multiple reactions, different motorcycles being made, and lastly a whole new way of marketing towards the customers’ demand and target market. With a new tariff law being passed on Japanese motorcycles, and acquiring a new leader named Vaughan Beals, from MIT’s Aeronautical Engineering School, meant taking a lead role in restoring confidence and quality in its products. With confidence being restored, Harley Davidson had asked that congress remove the tariff barriers more than a year earlier than originally planned. They believed their company could now compete with the Japanese head to head. With success, came many inevitable feats such as full potential not being realized, having more of a demand than what was being outputted, setting high goals, expanding to the international market, following your own path and not following the competition.
When thinking about motorcycles, Harley Davidson is a name that immediately is thought of. Harley Davidson has done an excellent job of branding and making their products known along with being industry
