Animal Testing
“Each year, more than 100 million animals, including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish and birds are killed throughout the US in labs for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity driven experiments and chemical drugs, food, and cosmetic testing.” Many of the animals last moments are spent being poked and prodded by needles in cold labs by scientists. Animals are meant to be companions, something that can cheer us up when were down not put in cages and injected with harmful viruses and diseases. The human and animal bodies do not share many similarities when predicting the outcome of reactions which does not come as a shock. In fact, “The anatomic, metabolic, and cellular differences between animals and people make animals poor models for human beings.” This should be a key factor in determining that animals should not be tested on but sadly it is not animals are still used in testing to this day. Animals are selfishly dying even when more methods that have been found. Now it’s no secret humans and animals are different so why must we continuously punish animals in order to make things better for us..
Testing on animals has made a turn for the better with more reliable testings on humans One example is the use of human cells. “In vitro testing such as studying cell cultures in a petri dish can also produce more relevant and crucial results than those of an animal because human cells can actually be used and tested. By using the human cells we don’t risk sudden reactions and scientists are able to be efficient and credible with the findings. While animal testing seem more beneficial we are in fact losing more money than we are
