This was a passage from Old Major’s speech to the animals in the beginning of animal farm. In this specific passage he is stressing the importance of the animals staying true to themselves, and how the animals should all live in unity. Napoleon goes against Old Major’s wishes, and he takes control of animal farm, eventually corrupting it. The other animals on the farm believe that Napoleon is doing what they were striving for in the beginning, but they do not recall what Old Major’s initial plans were.
