What would you do if one of your fellow employees was found dead, and suspected to have been murdered; only an hour or so after you had just seen him? What would be going through your mind when the police show up at your door asking you to come down to the station for questioning? Well this was the current predicament of Andrea Saunters, as she sat alone in the interrogation room of the Santa Barbara police station, left to reflect upon the events of the day, feeling the pain of the loss of a friend and co-worker as well as the fear from being a suspect in the case.

Andrea quickly assessed the man that walked in, and even before he was able to speak, it was clear that he was the detective on the case. Finally, the waiting had come to an end as the questioning began. “You must be Andrea Saunters. My name is Daniel Jones, and I am the head detective of the SBPD? This interview is being tape recorded and may be given in evidence when this case is brought to trial. The time is 0700 hours on Saturday 25th, April 2015. This interview is taking place at the Santa Barbara Police Station.” After saying this, the detective took a seat across from Andrea at the table in the middle of the interrogation room. “My role today,” he continued to say, “is to interview you in relation to the murder of Nicholas Larson. Could you please state your name and date of birth?” “My name is Andrea Marie Saunters, and my date of birth is September 8, 1986.” “Thank you,” Detective Larson stated,” now I need to caution you, and it is important that you completely understand what I am about to tell you. You are not required to respond to the questions that I ask of you, however any lack of a response may reflect badly on your case, as you are not offering yourself any defense and this may cause you to look guilty.
