Abstract: The research provides a thorough overview of design and analysis of chassis and suspension system assembly of heavy vehicles. The chassis is a steel frame, supported on the springs attached to the axels that holds the body of a automotive vehicle. Suspesion is a system of springs, shock absorbers ,that connects the wheels to the vehicle that allows the relatives motion between them. Suspension system provides a dual purpose of vehicle road holding and handling for good activie safety. The fem analysis has been carried out with different alternatives. The result illuminate the new creative ways for optimum frame design.which makes more sustainable and structural concern. The chassis and suspension system is assembly is modelled …show more content…
Introduction: Chassis is a French word which was originally used to denote the frame part but now has an extended list of components. Vehicle chassis is a major sub assembly in building an automobile. It is also known as backbone of automobile. The chassis includes frame, engine, clutch, gear box, propeller shaft, universal joints, differentials, axels, wheels, steering ,brakes, fuel tank, suspension system etc.
Chassis frame: Frame is the most important component of the chassis. Depending upon the arrangement of the frame with the body, following are the types of chassis frame.
Conventional frame: A separate frame is used on which all the chassis components are mounted in the body.
Sub-frame:
A smaller frame is used on which a few major components are mounted
The sub frame is mounted on the frame.
Frameless construction:
A floor structure having side member, cross members alongwith body are all welded together as one assembly

The frame is upswept at the front and rear to accommodate the movement of axles and wheels during springing This also helps in keeping the chassis height low. The longitudinal members are connected such that the frame is narrowed down at the front.
This is to have smaller turning radius and better steering lock.
Mounting brackets are provided at the sides of longitudinal members to support the body. Dumb iron pins are provided for mounting of suspension springs.
The cross section of longitudinal members can b of following types
1) Solid round or rectangular cross section.
2) Enclosed thin wall hollow round or rectangular box section.
3) Open thin wall rectangular channel section such as C,I, etc. The channel section (both C and I) have higher bending stiffness as compared to solid square bar with equal cross section area. Considering the bending stiffness of solid square section as 1, the relative bending stiffness of other sections are:
1) Solid square bar: 1.0
2) Solid round bar : 0.95
3) Hollow circular section :4.3
4) Rectangular C- section :
Remove the 18mm bell housing bolt. There will be 4 easily accessible from the top with 3.1, 5 with 3.8. Next install the holding fixture with two hooks to support the engine while the trans is removed. This is a large frame like device that has two hooks that support the engine from above while major components have been removed from below. Raise and support the vehicle.

One unique feature was the decision to use a front subframe isolated with rubber 'biscuits" in combination with the unit body construction of the rest of the car, a technique that had been used on several Europeancars, including many Mercedes-Benz models. This combined the best of both worlds-a larger interior and more luggage space than was possible with a traditional frame and at the same time a quieter, smoother ride than a full uni-body car delivered.
These bikes are made up of a wide range of materials such as steel, which is inexpensive, strong, and is easy to work with. Aluminum is lightweight, inexpensive and non corrosive. Titanium is light, strong non corrosive and shock absorbing. Carbon fiber which is the lightest, strongest with unlimited frame design possibilities and excellent shock absorption. The distribution for the compa...

Inside of a car there are a lot of parts. A number of independent and yet interrelated systems are required to make an automobile of even the simplest and least sophisticated type. An engine and transmission are required to make it go. Brakes have to be incorporated to a retarding force. Steering and suspension are needed to take this vehicles around corners and and over bumps, and lights must be equipped to satisfy the demands of the law as well as to aid night time driving. These systems are all united within one shell. known as the body, which to many pe...
Hundreds of thousands of people own a car, or some sort of motor vehicle, all around the world. Whether it is a car, truck, or even motorcycle, every one of them has a suspension system, but the type of suspension system all depends on the type of the vehicle. Besides the normal every day cars, there are many other vehicle types that people like to buy to play around with, such as dirt bikes and go karts. To make the best ride, an independent suspension system is the best choice. There are many different types of independent suspension systems, but the double wishbone, or A-arm system, and the Macpherson strut are the two most popular. Using a double wishbone suspension system is a better choice rather than using the MacPherson strut suspension system.

Brakes may be one of the most essential inventions in the developments of automobiles. Clearly, nothing can surpass the breakthrough of the wheel, but the brake system was a catalyst to the further developments of cars. The brake system has also evolved greatly throughout the years. Once considered one of the simplest parts of a vehicle, brakes have become one of the most complicated components in a vehicle. The scientific explanation behind a brake system is very rudimentary. Friction permits the concept of braking to occur.
Good stability and handling is achieved with a combination of suspension, steering, acceleration, brakes and weight distribution.
Since then, Motor Companies have made numerous types of vehicles to fit your driving style the best including SUVs, trucks, compact cars, luxurious cars, and sedans etc. Even countries across the globe have have joined the competition such as Toyota, Nissan, and other european c...
Since the invention of the Ford’s Model T, the modern automobile industry has been manufacturing affordable automobiles for everyone in the U.S. The age of design of cars boomed as people started to demand more customization of their cars (Model T only came black). This began the shift from manufacturing-driven automobile to a more design-driven automobile.
The framing process is probably the fastest part of building a house. A good framing crew can frame an average size house in just a couple of days. The framing of the house consists of the floor system, walls, and roof system. The framing is th...
The body is the first concept of Laban’s four components of movement. Body can be defined as the human body and its characteristics both physical and structural as well as the body’s coordination’s and reflexes. (Longstaff 2007) The body can also be described as the body fundamentals. These fundamentals of the body are Breath, Core-Distal connectivity, head tail connectivity, upper-lower connectivity, body-half connectivity and body-diagonal connectivity (NYU movement [sa]).
Cars are amazing! All the different parts—the engine, the wheels, the gears, and all the fiddly bits like the windscreen wipers—came together, very gradually, over a period of about five and a half thousand years.
