Many people have seen the movie “13 Reasons Why”. In this movie the main character Hannah makes 13 tapes for 13 people who drove her to kill herself. Throughout the entire movie everyone who drove her to kill herself listened to each of the thirteen tapes. In each of the tapes she tells them what she went through, who caused her pain, and who did it. Under no circumstance should suicide be seen in a laughing matter or as something that is considered cool. It’s a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Suicide needs to be brought to attention and how we can help people who have depression so then they don’t hurt themselves. Statistically speaking the most common way to kill oneself is by hanging oneself or by suffocation. Also is by cutting oneself with any kind of sharp object or drinking one selves or by taking pills to kill one selves. There are many ways to commit suicide, but it is also very sad that people do this to one selves to get out of problems that are temporary. The leading cause of suicide is from bullying, physically and/or mentally abuse. Abuse is a terrible thing to do to anyone or anything. When one abuses, they are not only physically harming that other person, they are scarring them for life. Causing the other person to build walls up around them shutting themselves off from others. This causes them to hold in all their feelings, eventually that leads to very suicidal thoughts. This is exactly why we should not post suicide everywhere, it puts an image in kid’s heads saying that suicides helps you escape your feelings and helping end all the pain that you’re going through. Teens now a days are bullied, abused, raped, and so on. But having suicide posted on the internet is giving them resources to look into suicide and learn more about suicide. Kids have depression for a number of reasons as I listed above, but one of the main reasons is bullying. For the simple fact would one want their kids to learn about suicide at a young age? No many parents don’t want their kids exposed to it. Yes suicide should be talked about at an appropriate for them to understand that it’s not something cool or that they should do it, and that if they are having suicidal thoughts that to talk to someone and that you shouldn’t keep your feelings kept inside of you. And that they should be taught to help other kids and that if they see someone being bullied or abused to get an adult. A kid as young as 8 could be getting bullied at school and recently learned about suicide and self-harm from the internet. Showing them that suicide is a way out of all your problems. Say for instance this 8 year old is getting bullied for their body size or they have a big nose. This young innocent 8 year old could start felling angry that they don’t have the “perfect” body, feeling angry that they can’t change the way they look… so they self-harm their body. Kids should be having fun not worrying about their body size, the way they look or the way they talk. But that’s just how this generation is now a days kids bully other kids for not being
