I am doing an historical analysis of the climax in The Hound of the Baskervilles.
The novel is based upon a mythological creature “the hound” of the Baskervilles. It is an age old curse on the family name a creature thought to be of the supernatural that kills Sir Charles Baskerville and causes much problems in this novel especially for Sherlock and Watson who are trying to solve this mysterious and mind twisting case. This book is solely a case of evil vs. good

Sherlock Holmes is trying to solve the mystery of The Hound of Baskervilles, and keep Sir Henry safe. Sir Henry doesn 't believe he is in any danger, which is soon to change. The hound being the antagonist, is the mystery supernatural figment behind the murder of Sir Charles and causes a lot of difficulties for Sherlock and Watson particularly in solving the murder case. The stock or supporting characters are Dr. Mortimer and Cecil. Dr. Mortimer is the most important stock character, because he helps Watson and Sherlock Holmes in solving the mystery. Selden is the flat character because he is the escaped convict/murderer, who is thought to be the one behind all the murders, but then ends up suffering a fate of being murdered by the hound. These characters are revealed through the plot. Set in Devonshire, London Sherlock Holmes and Watson are working hard to solve the mystery of The Hound of Baskervilles. A series of mysteries arrive in rapid succession Barrymore is caught skulking around the mansion at night; Watson spies a lonely figure keeping watch over the moors; and the doctor hears what sounds like a dog 's howling. Beryl Stapleton provides an enigmatic warning and Watson learns of a secret encounter between Sir Charles and a local woman named Laura Lyons on the night of his death. The main episode of the plot is when the hound kills Selden the escaped convict which leaves Sherlock and Watson without a suspect anymore. The main conflict of the plot introducing the start of the climax is when Sherlock Holmes and Sir Henry Baskerville find out that Sir Henry has more family in Devonshire, Stapleton and Cecil, at first they do not know that they are family, but he finds that out toward the end of the story. The climax and high point of the plot begins when Holmes, Mortimer, and Stapleton go into a mine to find evidence, but a cave in almost trapped Holmes which was probably planned. The outcome of the plot is when Holmes kills the hound just before it tries to kill Sir Henry and they find out that it is just a regular dog wearing a mask. The ending of the story is surprised because Sir Henry is beginning to fall in love with Cecil, but he then finds out that she hates him and is a descendant of Sir Hugo Baskerville, and they are related. He also finds out that Cecil and Stapleton want control of the Baskerville Hall, so they used the legend of the hound kill of the family, so they could inherit the estate.
The whole climax and the main plot of this book based upon a hound that is roaming the halls of the baskervilles killing of the name and causing much conflict and terror. But ends up being a case between good and evil . The evil being greedy and devising
