Even though all of the presenters did a great job with their speeches one speech that stood out to me was Gianna’s speech on the benefits of breakfast. What I like about her presentation was that as soon as she said the title of her speech I was instantly interested. I am someone who often skips breakfast so learning about reasons why I should not skip it was a very interesting topic to me. She spoke about her own experiences with the topic to establish credibility and did a really good job previewing what she was going to talk about. Another thing that I noticed about her right from the beginning was that she seemed very eager and excited about the presentation that she was going to give. She used the problem solution method of organization to set up her speech, which to me was the perfect way of doing things. She stated how skipping breakfast can be a problem and stated the effects that it can have on someone. Once all of that was said she went into various different ways of how this could be corrected and that it is essential to have a good breakfast everyday. She went into sufficient detail about the different health risks such as obesity, bad mood, and lower recognition. She spoke upon each other those individually and then said how even small breakfasts such as granola bars could drastically lower one risk to any of these symptoms. Also while she was speaking she did a great job mentioning where she got all of her different information. She mentioned different websites and studies that where done on her topic to provide credibility to the information that she was telling to the class. While she was presenting the body of her speech she was able to keep everyone’s attention the whole time just like when she was giving her introduction. This is something that is usually much harder to do in the body of the speech in comparison to the introduction. Her speech was very well organized composed of all the essential parts that make a speech good. Her presenting the content was also done very well. She held great eye contact with the audience throughout the entire presentation and her posture was also perfect. The slides that where in her power point were also very well put together in my opinion. The colors were appropriate for the topic; the blue and yellow coloring reminded me of a morning sky so I thought that fit the topic very well. There was a good amount of pictures of breakfast food and she didn’t put too much text on her slides, which made it better in my opinion because it did not take the audiences attention off of her. The small amount of text on the slides allowed her to just use it a cues for what she was going to say next and elaborate more about what was on the slides. Gianna’s speech really stood out to me for various reasons but the one that really stuck with me was the fact that it was a good topic that had relevancy to everyone that was listening to it.
