What I believe I have learned from the four models this week is really amazing. I have gained critical information that definitely will impact my life as an educator. Every model emphasized this week has different teaching techniques and each model helps meet the different needs of teachers. Even though, I am still having doubts on how to implement a specific model, I think instructional and content coaching can be implemented with novice and veteran teachers depending in the need of the teacher who is having issues in the classroom. According to Knight (2008), an instructional coach must possess excellent communication skills and deep respect for teachers’ professionalism. The Cognitive process is not rote or directive, but instead used structures for supporting the teacher’s own planning and reflecting (Knight, 2008). I also learned about the collegial coaching this week and it was amazing to acquire all new information that will help me become a better teacher and help others succeed. In Collegial Coaching, the coach and the teacher must have efficacy, collaborate to exchange information and learn from each other (Laureate Education, 2010a). According to D’ Antonio’s (2001), he emphasizes the importance of the collegial model and its relationship with efficacy. In addition, collegial coaching personally fits more with new teachers because it provides a non-threatening system of interventions and they can grow more as educators implementing all these interventions. I really liked this model also to implement with my Collaborative Colleague. I am also planning to use all the four coaching models in my school because I believe teachers have different needs to meet; therefore, I must be knowledgeable on all four so I can implement them effectively with my colleagues and improve …show more content…

The goal is to transform teachers to become effective educators using different teaching models in the classroom. As educators, we need to understand that we never stop learning new ways on how to improve the education of our children; therefore, we need to acknowledge and implement new teaching models so we can make a difference in student learning. The similarity that I observed between the instructional and collegial model is that the coach first teach the lesson and the teacher observes the lesson and take notes. Then, the teacher teaches the lesson, and the coach observes and takes notes (Laureate Education, 2010g). Implementing Using collegial coaching, teacher can also learn from each other and provide positive feedback and reflect to make it better the next time. I believe the two models that I am interested in implementing next year are instructional and collegial coaching. Both models implement a pre-conference, observation, and post conference. According to Knight (2008), Coaches must offer positive feedback, support, and build positive relationships with mutual respect to enhance learning. Personally, I think that collegial coaching is mainly for novice teachers and emphasized by Venison (2010d).
