Recent events in Canadian politics have shocked the artistic sector in Canada. The conservative party of Stephen Harper attacked the arts and culture sector by cutting funds to some major art programs in the country. Art has played an important role in the development of societies around the world. Everything from social structure and religion to politics and military was reflected in various forms of art; from painting and sculpture to theatre and dance. Ancient Egyptians build pyramids and had symbolic depictions of deities. Ancient Greeks, the fathers of democracy, were the masters of pottery, sculpture as well as architecture and painting. In ancient times art was not isolated from science, philosophy and of course politics. Everyday political, social, military and economical affairs were reflected in the arts, and vice versa. Artists were the thinkers, and thought provokers of the culture. In the Renaissance artists were synonymous with progress, invention and liberalism. They were the builders and reinforcers of cultural value and tradition. Modern day is seeing a variety of art forms that reveal the culture that art is produced within. Canada is a country rich in history, traditions and multiculturalism. It is important to sustain and develop the art sector in Canada in order to maintain and “voice” Canadian culture and identity. Moreover, the art industry in Canada not only improves the cultural fabric of the country, it also showing significant revenue to the government. The Harper Government funding cuts to the arts and culture sector is an unjustified act of censorship. Underfunding of Arts in Canada will hinder the development of values and unity in Canadian culture and Identity as well as hinder freedom of exp...
More in depth, the entire concept of art and what is art differs in the world of the nonliterate societies. This is the first rule that needs to be analyzed. In addition to, the objects westerners view as art is actually a small piece to a bigger puzzle. To the Natives, the overall puzzle or purpose is to created and stabilize the cosmic order in which they live in. It is through this process of rituals and sacred ceremonies to keep order that objects are created of beauty, but for bigger reason. Not to hang on a wall or leave behind a glass case; but rather, keeping order and doing away with chaos that could destroy their existence.

The Arts and Crafts movement occurred during the late 19th century and early 20th century. Its aim was “to bring artists and craftsmen together.” The movement developed from the fear that art was being lost to the up and coming manufacturing field (“The Bauhaus”). However, Gropius knew manufacturing would be a big part of the future and promoted art that could be mass-produced by factories. In 1923, the school’s slogan be...
The first art that interested me was the art of Indonesia which in this exhibit depicted the culture, history and art of Indonesian people. For instance, Bali a small island in the Indonesia valued most of its art based on the rich resources they occupied such as most art was composed of gold, diamond and sapphires which people of Bali believed that it will resemble their higher standards in the society. Art of Bali amazed me the most when it came to their “King’s crown” and “Queen’s crown” which was completely “fashioned in pure gold with diamonds, rubies, and sapphires” (Bali). The king’s crown was much simpler compare to queen’s crown which contained many varied of gold decorative that looked like gold flowers, and all of its designs such as rubies or sapphires were perfectly horizontally lined to each other that sort of depicted as a shiny necklace. The Bali’s art that I observed was very interesting know about the society they lived in those centuries with representation of their upscale society (Bali).

The artworks of Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, the Aegean cultures, and Ancient Greece have similarities that not only reflect objects and images, but also the media, style and representation. These countries were not always wealthy, clever, creative and powerful enough to gain supplies, but they all find a way to create art with what they had. They have all influenced on each other’s cultures and belief through their artistic values and ways, ranging from the materials and tools they use, position and representation of their monuments and their religious intent.

As he started doing work at Aden as a clerk at A. Besse & Co. This company dealt with trading all sorts of goods to European, American, African and Asian companies. He was always ready to learn new things. He started working in a Gujarati trading firm where he was able to learn accounting, book keeping and preparing shipping papers and documents. He also learnt about dealing with banks and insurance companies. Without any education, he learnt all these things very quickly and gave the maximum gain to his employers with his hard work and focused approach. He always says that “Dream big, But Dream with your Eyes Open”. His phenomenal achievements taught us that limitations are in our mind. Nothing can stop us if we are fully dedicated and kind to our work. Example- AG Krishnamurthy, founder of Mudra ad agency india’s first integrated marketing communications, went to Dhirubhai for taking advice. Dhirubhai told him to produce the best textile advertising in the country. He did not said any single word about profits. He said that best advertising should be the goal , money will automatically come to in your pocket. This was his way of doing
Last of all, he presented how Filipinos look into the world with respect to art. Filipinos would rather look at an object through its beauty and not of its kindness. It is a variety of a transpersonal world view which is much closer to the new paradigm, where the sense of being one of the artist and his craft is considered beautiful. All the author is saying is that Filipino artists should never lose their enthusiasm for the sake of art. Somebody could make a difference even though he is the only one who could appreciate his creation. Everybody is unique in their own way; it is just only some has the guts to dare to be different. Who knows? Maybe someday, that certain somebody could start a new revolution for Filipino artists here and around the world.
