Nikola Tesla (shown in Figure 1) was born on the 9th July 1856 in Smiljan, Austrian Empire, or known today as Croatia and deceased in New York (USA) on the 7th January 1943. Tesla’s Father, Milutin Tesla, was an orthodox priest, while his mother, Djuka Mandic, spent her free time inventing household items and inspired Nikola; Tesla was one of five siblings, Dane, Angelina, Mike and Marcia (Biography.com Editors 2017)

Tesla’s most influential creations, set to change the world was produced in 1891 when tesla came up with what was known as the Tesla coil.
Although the Tesla coil has been replaced in many areas by more modern circuitry, the tesla coil at the time is what allowed for the first wireless telegraph communication systems to work (MagLab 2014)
“Everything is light” – (In5D 2014) in 1899 Nikola Tesla took part in an interview with John Smith, this interview came to be particularly famous, and showed Teslas way of thinking when he used the term “Everything is light” this became one of Teslas most famous interviews, the full interview can still be found and read from transcripts online today, In summary Nikola Tesla is one of histories most desired Electrical Engineers, his ideas and creations set many of the foundations on which Electrical Engineers all over the globe use today. Although not all his ideas are still in use today, a lot of the technology we have today, such as wireless communication systems, would not be possible without the innovative work of Nikola Tesla.

All my money has been invested into experiments with which I have made new discoveries enabling mankind to have a little easier life,” Tesla (1927). As James Levine is famous for saying, “I was lucky that I met the right mentors and teachers at the right moment.” To me, one of the greatest mentors of innovative scientific history was Nikola Tesla. That being said, if given the opportunity to spend the next year of my life in a different time period I would like to live during the year 1942 so I could work beside Tesla. During the late 1800’s there were two men who both started to mess with the power of electricity there was Edison and Nikola Tesla. Edison was the first man to create the electrical system, but according to Tesla the way Edison’s system was designed and had flaws that that Tesla didn’t agree with. Edison’s idea is still used to this day but now has the improvements that were given by Nikola Tesla. Nikola Tesla was born in Smijan, Croatia in 1856 to a mother named Djuka Mandic who was also an inventor for small appliances and a father named Milutin Tesla who was a man of the priesthood. As a young boy is was influenced and great deal by his mother in the world of inventing and started to help his mother with her inventions.
Nikola Tesla was born on July 10,1856 into a Serbian family. He was born in the village of Smiljan, Croatia. He was the fourth of five children born to Milutin & Duka Tesla. Milutin, Nikola’s father was an Orthodox priest and a writer. His Mother, Duka had a talent for making home craft tools and mechanical appliances. His father wanted him to become a priest but he was more like his Mother and drawn to inventing and the sciences.
Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was an eccentric man that was many lifetimes ahead of his generation. He was a man that dreamed of giving the world an unlimited supply of wireless energy. His genius imagination allowed him to think outside the box and solve issues that others had thought were unsolvable. Nikola Tesla proposed his vision for a system powered by an alternating current generator to Thomas Edison and was shot down because Thomas Edison’s power structure had already been established using a direct current system. The two butt heads however Nikola Tesla was relentless. After being used and rejected by Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla picked himself and went toe to toe with the most prolific inventor. The stage for David vs Goliath was set. Through Nikola Tesla’s borderline obsession to solve the design for an alternating current motor and sacrificing his own opportunity to become a wealthy man, we now live in a very efficient world where everyone reaps the rewards of his genius, few know his name, and even fewer know what he did.
Although Faraday was unsuccessful when it came to money, he was very successful in the field of science, namely electric science. One of his most important discoveries is that of electro-magnetic induction. It was this experiment, and others of the like, that brought about the discoveries of Maxwell, Rutherford, and Einstein, and elevated Faraday from the son of a poor blacksmith, to a great man of modern science.
Like his mother, Tesla had a knack for inventing new and/or useful things. Before realizing his fascination in the electrical field, Tesla intended to specialize in mathematics and physics. He studied at Polytechnic Institute in Graz, Austria, Realschule, Karlstadt, and University of Prague. Tesla kicked off his career as an electrical engineer in 1881 with a position at a phone company in Budapest. Thomas Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in Milan Ohio. He was the youngest of all 7 children. His parents were Samuel Edison, Jr. and Nancy Elliot Edison. His dad was a man that did everything, from real-estate to running the local grocery store. His mom was a teacher, but with 7 children she stayed home with the kids preparing meals and helping them with homework. When Thomas was seven years old, his family moved to Port Huron, Michigan. He was full of energy and a curious young boy.
Poor, old and lonely Nikola Tesla died on January 7th, 1943 at the age of 86. In New York City. where he had lived for nearly sixty years. But the work he devoted his life to is still widely used today.

He grew up the son of a Serbian Orthodox Reverend, and was one of five children. He was an avid reader, and would often memorize entire books.
