For example, pneumonia, caused by a bacteria called Streptococcus pneumoniae, affect the lungs and neutrophils which are synoptically dense regions. In the article called “Alcohol’s Effects On Lung Health and Immunity”, the authors Samantha M. Simet a postdoctoral colleague of Joseph H. Sisson specialized in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care, Sleep and Allergy Division from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska made some studies about the S. pneumoniae infection. Simet and Sisson conclude, ethanol harm neutrophil concentration because of less production of it and liberation of it in the circulatory systems, but other reports do not show the same results (e-2). This means that alcohol can damage the neutrophils of the lungs producing pneumonia which is the lack of oxygen reached in the blood. Another example is tuberculosis. The tuberculosis (TB) cells become active and the immune system disturbs. However, the TB are resistant to drugs; therefore, lymphocytes play an important role to battle TB cells. Lymphocytes have three types: Natural Killers Cells (NK), B cells, and T Cells (Simet and Sisson e-3).
