Our world is currently facing an atrocious displacement crisis. At the moment, there are more than 65 million individuals who are forcibly displaced due to violent conflicts and natural disasters. Just last year, over one million refugees made their way to the European Union in hopes of escaping the barbaric situation in their country while frantically searching for a new beginning. Sadly, many countries turned an ignorant cold shoulder towards these frightened, help-seeking individuals.
The European Union has never been one to welcome immigrants with open arms. When Syrian refugees starting fleeing to different countries, Hungarians immediately attempted to fence off the flow of Syrians. They proceeded to close off Keleti station in Budapest

What should be done to ensure that all member states follow the 1951 U.N Refugee Convention, when some countries appear to be failing in their duty? The European Comminsion intervened when it became apparent that some countries were not sticking to the rules. Infringement procedures were launched against Greece, Italy, Croatia and Hungary. While it may be tempting to allow individuals who seem less dangerous entry into the EU, international law states that a country must always grant protection to those who need it, regardless of who the individual is. In this essay, I will be talking about social work problems faced in the UK and how they are addressed. I will be focusing on asylum seekers particularly Unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC). These are children who are under 18yrs of age and applying for asylum in their own rights. I aim to highlight key areas in understanding the needs of these children while recognising that these are by no means homogenous, and therefore explain how these needs are addressed by social policies, legislature and social workers.

Many refugees struggle to find a place to resettle. America, along with other developed countries, has often been considered dreamland for these displaced people, making many wanting to get out of their war-torn houses and camps. Refugees immigrating to America have been displaced from their original homes, face frustrating immigration policies, and have difficulties starting a new life in a new land.
Throughout our history, persons fleeing their country to seek asylum elsewhere is not new to us. The job of policy makers and government officials is to enact laws that will accommodate these people and allow them to have a smooth transition into new societies.
