“Part of what makes America strong is our resilience, tenacity, innovation and our willingness to be optimistic about our future.” - Valerie Jarrett. Our ever-evolving country constantly grows and changes as time passes. The history we create determines what the future will hold, and it is our duty as American citizens to ensure we will do our best to better our country. When the people look back a century from now; I hope they are proud of the history that has been established for them. They, too, can learn about the past just as we have. The incidents left the country speechless and scared for our future. Not knowing what would come of the United States; 9/11 left the entire country panic-stricken. I was much too young to understand what happened on September 11th, so I asked my mother what she recalls. She remembers thinking: what kind of world did we just bring this baby into?; a world where people harm people. She remembers feeling scared for the future, scared about the security of the country, and scared for her four-month-old child. The news spread throughout the country like wildfire and it affected each citizen of every state, city, and town in America. Although the events that occurred made everyone grieve, it united the citizens as they worked to rebuild what was destroyed. The people grieved for each other as if they were a team. I can’t speak for the people that died and the people that lost their loved ones, and I can only imagine how difficult the healing process has been for everyone involved. The hurt that the country faced left an uncertain future for America. Most people remember 9/11 as a time of hurt, pain, and suffering; which it was and continues to be. I like to think of it as a time of triumph. The United States showed its durability when it recovered from one of the most difficult times in our history. The way our country recovered gives me hope for the future; it proves that we can bounce back from anything that harms us. The events caused a major setback for the united states, but we came back stronger than ever. Since then, the safety has been enforced, the country has recovered, and the world trade center has been rebuilt; stronger than ever. The way America handled the attack gives me everlasting hope for our future. It proves that we can restore our country and become stronger after a considerable setback.
