Some historical, figures are remembered for their action, while others are remembered for their for their intent. Every historic figure is remembered differently depending on what they did, however it does not matter if the person had a massive impact or if they only made a dent in history. In the end everyone is equal because they accomplished or almost accomplished something that could not be forgotten. Amelia Simmons became an important historical figure, especially in culinary history, because she wrote American Cookery, the reason behind her writing American Cookery and how American cookery became one of the first stepping stones for creating diversity in cookbooks.

Written and published in the spring of 1786, in Hartford, Connecticut, Amelia Simmons wrote American Cookery, which is believed as the first American authorship cookbook published in the United States. Even though American Cookery was the first American authorship cookbook, the United States already had cookbooks ,but they were all written by the British. “However, when it came to understanding American culture unlike the British cookbooks, American Cookery recipes centered on the use of corn meal which was a staple of the American diet during this time era.”(Mangan,Greg).
