Dr. Amanda Foreman was born to Evelyn Smith and Carl Foreman, a famous Hollywood film producer and screenwriter, in 1968 in London, England. Amanda is now married with five children. She grew up briefly in Los Angeles, California but later moved back to England and was educated there. She attended Hanford School in Southwest England, an ‘all girls preparatory boarding schools’ and after a number of various girls boarding schools. She was born on august 9, 1869, and was the tenth child out of eleven children that where born by Robert and Isabella turnbo. She was the first African American Texas state senator. Jordan was also a debater, a public speaker, a lawyer, and a politician. Mary Bryant was in the group of the first convicts (and the only female convict) to ever escape from the Australian shores. Mary escaped from a penal colony which often is a remote place to escape from and is a place for prisoners to be separated. The fact that Bryant escaped from Australia suggests that she was a very courageous person, this was a trait most convicts seemed to loose once they were sentenced to transportation. This made her unique using the convicts.

The author, Linda Pastan, was born on in1932, on May 27 in New York City, New York. She was the only child of Jacob L. Olenic, a surgeon, and Bess Olneic. She had a relatively normal life growing up. Her parents were from European Jewish descent, but because of their atheistic views, they sent their daughter to a school in Riverdale called Fieldston School. This is “a progressive private school affiliated with the Ethical Cultural Society, a humanist organization for free-thinking Jews” (Johnson 1). Later in life she married Ira Pastan who was a medical student, he later became a molecular biologist, and together they bore three children—Stephen, Peter, and Rachel. The recognition and achievements in education that Pastan received were bountiful. She got her bachelor’s Degree in Literature from Radcliffe in 1954. The very inspiring woman, that will be our keynote speaker today, once said “In the end anti-black, anti-female, and all forms of discrimination are equivalent to the same thing: anti-humanism” that is from the book “Unsought and Unbossed” by the one and only Shirley Chisholm. If you haven’t heard that name before you probably don’t know a lot about the black political world. She is most known for becoming the first African American congress women in 1968. But let’s find out how she got to that point in her life.
On October 10, 2012, a teenage girl's body, Amanda Todd, was found at her home in British Columbia. The cause of Amanda's death was suicide. It all started when she was in the 7th grade, Amanda was on an online chat room, where she met a man who harassed her into flashing him her breasts. A year later, that same man contacted her on Facebook asking her to 'put on a show' for him, when Amanda did not comply the man who she had met online had found out her personal information and released the picture of her breasts to everyone she knew, and that photo went viral. Amanda's classmates saw the pictures and they began to harass and bully her in school to the point that she became depressed, and began to abuse drugs and alcohol. Amanda began cutting herself to relieve the pain she felt. Amanda changed schools, as a result, girls from her other school came to her new school and beat her up, while people from the new school filmed it and posted it on social media. She had multiple suicide attempts, first lying in a ditch on the side of the road, then drinking a bottle of bleach with no success, Finally managed to kill herself on October 10th 2012, ending her life. What is it like to live a life with Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD)? Narcissism is a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy. People with this disorder can be vindictive, selfish, cunning person. They do not care who is harmed or hurt. Abigail was the leader of all of the girls that were seen dancing and calling on evil spirits. Abigail would threaten the girls by saying if they said anything, she would kill or harm them severely. She wanted what she couldn’t have, so that made her psychologically unstable. Abigail William’s would be convicted in today’s court because she gave many threats to kill the girls who were with her the night they were dancing if they spoke up in court, her behavior caused harm to many even though she may not have physically done damage herself and due to previous court cases, some people diagnosed with Narcissism were found innocent due to their mental instability but others were guilty because they were mentally unstable. As it is shown, Narcissistic Personality Disorder causes her to be selfish, arrogant, dangerous, and obsess over the man she could not have, because Abigail threatened the girls she was with the night they were dancing, to not confess to anything in court.
For a long time, women’s potential in Science was little to none. However, over the years, it has now changed because of the outstanding breakthroughs and encouraging accomplishments women have done through the years. It is because of them, women’s potential in Science and other realms of studies has now evolved with more understandings and discoveries. It is for the reason of Maria Mitchell, one of the first female astronomers to be recognized in Science, that women’s potential were essentially respected. Her discoveries during her time as a student, a teacher, and an astronomer paved the way for many others, not just in Science, but also for woman’s rights and potential to be seen.
