Have you wondered if people really deserve the reputations that they have? An example is about Alexander III of Macedon, commonly known as “Alexander the Great” (356-323 B.C.) who was king of Macedonia, succeeding his father, King Philip II. Alexander conquered Greece, Persia, Babylon, and a part of India, which created the largest empire the world had ever seen, and never lost a single battle doing it. I think being a great leader is a mixture of greatness in personality and a greatness at ruling and strategic fighting. Thus making you distinguished and notable between the many people that rule in this case. The question is, whether Alexander the great really deserve this title. I think that he indeed should be considered “great”.

One reason that Alexander is great is that he was brilliant in battle because of his genius war strategies. An example is when he manipulated the Indian Army, led by King Porus, so that he and his army could …show more content…

He was an eminent leader because he had a great personality and respected others. An example of when he showed his greatness is when he and his army were returning from India. They had to overcome very difficult circumstances like, going through a desert with very limited supplies and having to walk around a mountain, which made it a sixty day march. During these days, Alexander would walk with his troops instead of riding his horse and not drinking water unless everyone else had enough. This show that he cared about his troops more than himself, which would make the soldiers respect him and be loyal. Another way he showed his respect is when he invaded Egypt and when to the ancient city of Memphis where he made sacrifices to the Egyptian Gods. This is a sign of greatness because he was able to realize that religion was a key part of Egyptian society and making the offering made the Egyptians trust and support
