“Ava are you ready to leave?” “Yes!” I yell down to my mom. My mom and I were just about ready to get picked up in a van to go to the airport. We were going to Florida for my National State Wide AYC Cheerleading Competition. We were going to the airport to meet up with my moms friend Jess and her 3 daughters Ava, Brynn, and Reese. They were also competing at the competition and were on the same team as me. When we got to the airport there were a lot of other people from our team and they were also on the same plane as us. Once I got on the plane I realized that it would take like 2-3 hours. When we took off the first thing I did was go on my phone. After a little while, I got bored so I started to do some homework. When I finished some of my homework I drew some pictures because my mom got me paper and some colored pencils before we went on the plane. After I got bored of coloring, the workers started handing out snack and drinks. I got pretzels and water because I was very hungry and thirsty. Today many people have a very fixed view about others in different countries, and what the locals from those countries think about Americans. America was formed so people from other cultures could come and make a life for themselves, and so they could come and enjoy the traditions and ways of America. If people could stop and think about all the good things that other countries have to offer instead of all the bad that the media shows, they could learn to appreciate those countries better. People need to be more open minded about going to other countries because without travel there would be no way of learning about other cultures.
Airport security is a big issue today because many people talk down on it when story after story, it is made to protect the people. Kip Hawley acknowledges that airport security has become so bureaucratic and disconnected from the people for which it is meant to protect for over a decade after 9/11 (Hawley). So why isn’t TSA taking the public’s opinions into consideration? TSA hears over thousands of complaints on a daily about their “stupid security checkpoints” or their “lazy employees”. The thing is, if airports were to improve their security staff, then less people would attempt to bring dangerous items onto the plane. If airports were to have dogs that are trained to smell toxic liquid, that would fix solutions quickly. TSA depends solely on their scanners too much. In determining how to make the sidewalks a better place for everyone, one must consider what it is that renders the sidewalks “better.” What does “better” encompass? Would eliminating homelessness, the “broken windows,” cause people to feel safer on the streets? Alternatively, would eliminating the stigma surrounding the homeless allow people to see the sidewalk workers as beneficial contributors to the sidewalk? With these ideas in mind and with knowledge of New York sidewalks from Mitchell Duneier’s novel, Sidewalk, I can contemplate the actions I would take to make the sidewalks a better place for everyone, if I had necessary, and assumedly unlimited, power to do so.
There is so much to be discovered in our vast world of technology. Scientists and researchers work hard everyday to educate themselves and others on the advances capable of being achieved. There are people learning about new technology, different scientific and medical methods, and most of all medicine everyday. However, there is always a price to pay with hypotheses running their course through experiments, and that is the testing subject. Scientists feel the best choice for such research is to use animals to be tested, and that great achievements in the science world are worth it. Just as these scientists are, testing on innocent animals is completely wrong. Just because they are available for testing, and don’t have any ability to opt out in these experiments, does not mean they are right for the job.

Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him” (G.K. Chesterton). A soldier is a soldier no matter what. If they fight behind a screen, on the front line, or from a controller as long as they’re protecting this country, the people in it, and the people fighting for it they are honorable. Some think that because one does their fighting from a remote control drone means that they have no understanding of war, and in some ways that is true, but they are still taking someone’s life when they choose to press that button just like the solders on the front line takes someone’s life when they pull the trigger. Imagine dedicating your life to a university not only on the academic level, but also the athletic level. With a full scholarship your time is dedicated to getting to class on time, finishing assignments, and making it to mandatory practices while also maintaining a strict workout schedule. With your day pretty much full of responsibilities, you do not have the time for a job to pay for anything that you may need outside of tuition, books, and housing. If your car breaks down or you run out of gas you have to pay for that out of your own pocket which is fairly difficult when you do not have an income to cover the costs and if you accept money or free services from any businesses, you could lose you eligibility as a NCAA athlete and lose your
Over the years, the cost of college tuition has been one of the central issues limiting students, like me, from obtaining the best education that one could receive. Usually, this results in students settling for a school nearby rather than being able to have the choice to go to the best one in which they were accepted into, due to such skyrocket prices. Much of this problem or concern has to do with out-of-state tuition being much higher than in-state tuition, sometimes almost doubling the price of in-state tuition! Therefore, students are more pressured to remain in state rather than go to out-of-state schools that may offer a better education.
It was time for us to leave and board the plane to America. I was very excited to get to America, I was also anxious to see my Dad who I haven’t seen in months. The flight was long, I can remember in the air was my first time feeling turbulence, whoa let me tell you it was a scary one it felt like the plane was about to crash. I was anxious for the plane to land. When we arrived we exited out the plane and head out to the train inside the airport in order to go to U.S. customs and border protection, to get our documents sorted out, so that we could enter the country.
It was a warm April day and all of the students were let out of school for the day. I went home to finish packing with the help of my parents making sure that I had everything and I wasn 't forgetting. I was excited for a week now to go on the trip to Washington D.C. with the whole 8th grade class for a week.

The excerpt is wildly popular because of the simple issue it addresses. The issue is none other than getting tired of the circumstances that life and people dish out at you and how cruel life can be to you. This is something that almost all of us experience and these situations tend to make us lose temper and blow up.
The fourth amendment states, “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. ”(Constitution) After the tragic events of September 11, 2001 airport security has been going through many updates to address the possible attacks on planes. Airport security was put into federal hands after the event and they have been more and more rigorous with body and bag searches. It has been stated in many articles and federal court cases how “unconstitutional” airport security pat downs and body scans are.
Public transportation is an essential part of a city. A good public transit can encourage a city’s economic activities and can provide its citizen a convenient life. Does our Phoenix public transit work well? Does it provide sufficient service to the citizen? From my experience, the answer is no. This November I tried to attend the popular State Fair in Phoenix. However, I found that there were not any buses or metros could take me to the fair directly. It means I need 2 hours or more spend on the public transits. As the sixth most populous city nationwide (“Phoenix Quick Fact” 1), compared with Los Angeles and other big cities in America, Phoenix’s public transportation is indeed subpar. Due to Los Angeles has 154 bus lines and 30 metros (“Schedule”), New York has 316 bus lines and 28 subways(“Maps & Timetables”), while Phoenix only has 98 bus lines, and the number of metro line is only one! Taking that flight was nothing like the flights I’ve taken before. I had just recently celebrated my fourteenth birthday a week before being told that we were taking a trip. My dad wanted to surprise me for keeping up good grades in school. With my father working in the military and knowing a lot about other countries, I couldn’t have asked for a better gift. Went
