Freedom of expression is a fundamental human right. It reinforces all other human rights, allowing society to develop and progress. The ability to express our opinion and speak freely is essential to bring about change in society.
Freedom of speech protects everyone from all walks of life to think and express themselves freely. Without this guaranteed freedom, unpopular opinions would be hidden out of fear of retribution, change and progress would come to a screeching halt and all of the other freedoms listed throughout the Constitution and all of the amendments that follow would crumble.

Shared responsibility
For starters, freedom of speech gives a person a certain level of responsibility, enhanced trust, frankness, and better sense of liability. In addition, free speech acts a tool in nurturing social evolution. Nevertheless, in order to ensure that we all enjoy freedom of speech, the government must put measures into place to stop groups that promote offensive views, such as racism, fascism, sexism and terrorism.
2. Enhances self-esteem
Another reason why the government should encourage freedom of speech is to help people develop poise to express their views without fear of being condemned or punished. By doing so, people can challenge the rules and laws and fight for what they believe is right. Such inspired folks are usually front-runners in economic development.
3. New ideas foster development
The benefits of freedom of speech are somewhat obvious, for instance, sharing of ideas can enhance productivity at the workplace, not to mention that it fosters social relationship. Although the benefits of freedom of speech are evident, some groups may abuse this privilege by promoting racist views, as well as fascism.

Free speech gives the government an opportunity to listen to what the people want in a peaceful manner. When taking a peaceful approach and creating an improved system, the likelihood of the government responding and making changes becomes

According to Roger Rosenblatt “since free is the way people's minds were made to be”, freedom of speech is important to speak one's mind in a way that expresses his/her opinion even if this opinion does not seem to convince others. In my opinion, without freedom of speech, the United States would have failed to be such a powerful country as it is today.
One key to the first amendment of the United states constitution is the right to free speech. Freedom of speech is what separates America than other countries around the world that forbid freedom of speech rights. Freedom of speech has been in our constitution since the year 1791. When James Madison “the father of the constitution” wrote the bill of rights he saw potential and that it would make the country more freedom filled than other countries. The land of the free is what the United States is nicknamed and it 's because of our rights to express ourselves as freely as we desire.

As Voltaire once said, “I may disagree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it” (Columbia). This right to express one's opinion can be characterized as “freedom of speech.” The concept of “freedom of speech” is a Constitutional right in the United States, guaranteed under the First Amendment to the Constitution:

Imagine a time when one could be fined, imprisoned and even killed for simply speaking one’s mind. Speech is the basic vehicle for communication of beliefs, thoughts and ideas. Without the right to speak one’s mind freely one would be forced to agree with everything society stated. For us to really be a free nation we must allow true free speech. “Order and peace are spontaneous and will tend to prevail wherever there is freedom” (Tinder 45).

Thanks to freedom of speech it is possible to express personal ideas without fear or restraints; therefore, all the perspectives and options will be on the table, giving people more opportunities to choose from. Nevertheless, everything in life has a limit, and the limit of freedom of speech depends directly on the consideration of the rights of others. People is free of believing what they want, thinking what they want, and even saying what they want, everything as long as they do not intrude or violate anyone else's rights.
