When it comes to our education, we often decide where we want to go and our choice of learning environment. Many people choose to go far, and some choose to stay close to home. There is also the option of online versus face to face learning. Some people would rather take online classes, rather than being face to face during certain amount of hours. In this paper I will be explaining what people prefer most, why one way is better than the other, who can benefit from each of the ways, and why each way could be a disadvantage. I will first begin talking about online learning, and then I will get into face to face learning. Taking online courses can be very difficult. You must remember to check it at least twice a day because you want to make sure you do all test or discussions. Some professors may have things put up already ahead of time so you can put on your calendar when something is due by. Then you have other professors that may put things up one week at a time. That automatically lets you know to check those classes every day. A lot of professors I know don’t like having a class online because it can take up so much time. Things have to be typed and prepared online and create more work than students face to face. Online classes are a lot harder because you aren’t really having a lesson taught in front of you, it’s like you’re basically teaching yourself. Those who often prefer online learning are those who have families and work full-time jobs, and for others, it’s because the face to face was either full or not offered. Distance education emerged during the past few decades in response to the increasing needs of learners who are not able to participate in face to face learning. The reason I prefer face to face class is to simply better know my professor and classmates. When you’re in class it’s easier with going over course work and preparing for test because you discuss it during class. It is also better because you aren’t teaching yourself for the most part and on site you can ask for help from the professor. You can easily take notes with face to face because of participation from students asking questions and things that you may have missed come up in discussion again. What I don’t like about face to face is if the class is in the morning because I am not a morning person. I struggle with having to get up, so I try my hardest to make it on time to class. In the end, I would choose either one because it’s all about how much effort you put into it to learn, and past the class.
