Although the unemployment rate is decreasing compared to the last few years, having a job is a blessing. An even greater blessing is having a job that you love. Since the job market is competitive, many people are settling to work at companies they are unhappy with to earn a means of income. A highly low satisfaction career is within the profession of education. Teachers report having low satisfaction with their job, with a correlated mixture of low motivation. Because of these obstacles, job performance may be suffering as well. When a teacher is dealing with disruptive students, constantly grading papers and tests, having conferences with parents, and spending their summer vacation preparing for the following school semester it seems like they would be greatly appreciated. Instead, they are discounted for the many services they give, which is not an equal input-outcome ratio. Sometimes, this task may be tough, especially if they are lecturing in a low-income, inner-city school. Because of the low budget of some schools, they may not get the advancements and opportunities that other schools may receive, as well as troubled students themselves not being motivated to learn.
