Primary research is a type of research in which a researcher will have to conduct themselves, for instance, surveys and interviews. This form of research is important to the academic cultures because they create and conducted their own experiment. The results from the experiment are their own fresh new findings that no one has tampered with.
The three academic cultures, we have learned throughout this semester are Humanities, Social Science and the Natural Sciences. The natural sciences have a focus that everything in the universe can be studied. Often times, scientists in the academic culture will create things that are not a part of the natural world. A few of the disciplines in this academic culture are, biology, math, chemistry, and engineering. Epistemology is the theory of while researching for my secondary research, many scientists have found that video games can actually benefit the person in many ways! For instance, scientist had conducted an experiment where they found that video games can benefit the gamer in spatial performance, reading skills, academic ability and self-esteem (Witt al. 2011). These characteristics can improve a person mental ability, especially reading, as it can help elementary schoolers improves their reading skill at a level they will enjoy.
When conducting any and all experiments, society will be your biggest critic. If I were to not debrief the participants about the study, I could come into legal trouble with the office of research integrity and perhaps the society.
In conclusion, my study focuses on whether video games can benefit you or be used against you. I was using my psychological background which falls under social sciences as an academic culture. In the future, I hope to be able to conduct my own actual experiment and be able to send it to the office of research
Videogames are amazing they promote creativity, team-work and social interaction. Video games actually work to increase how good your eyesight is. One study done by scientist’s Daphne Bavelier and her team found that playing five to fifteen hours of action games (e.g., Call of Duty) a week increased how good the participants vision was in two ways "The first way is that they 're actually able to resolve small detail in the context of clutter… The other way that they are better is actually being able to resolve different levels of grey”. Sure games have violence in them but honestly what doesn’t, films and TV are chock full of it, heck even Tom and Jerry promote violence and animal abuse plus there is a reason that those big shiny red “18” stickers are put on games so that it is clearly shown that children aren 't supposed to be given access to these specific types of game. As for the “waste of time” nothing is really a waste of time if you gain something from it such as
Based on the preceding ontological and epistemological assumptions a researcher then makes methodological assumptions. Having decided on exactly what is to be studied the researcher then decides how the research can best be managed thus formulating a plan of action. Considerations include whether the research used should be primary or secondary. Whether one will test an existing hypothesis or whether one will construct a theory after having collated evidence. Finally one can draw conclusions as to which strategy to implement with the ultimate goal of producing the type of knowledge that is required. This then results in the type of method or methods of research to be used.
Researchers, however, have found that gaming may not be completely bad for adolescents. A recent study by Paul J.C. Adachi and Teena Willoughby points out that video gaming may satisfy the same criteria for positive youth development as traditional organized activities such as sports, music or clubs. In direct contrast to this analogy, they demonstrate that there may be significant social benefits of gaming, that adolescents are motivated to play video games and that this type of play requires concentration and mental effort (Adachi and

Video games today can even improve critical thinking. Rhea R. Borja states that educational games have a large potential to improve critical thinking, help teach academic curricula, and examine what students learn. Though, it’s unlikely that schools will start investing in videogame as a form of teaching some educators are using video games as a learning tool (Video Game Play May). This quote by Don Blake perfectly sums up most opinions on education video game research: “All the research done and millions ...
Parahoo (2014) refers basic research to as pure research conducted to develop, test and refine theories and generate new knowledge to help in provision of quality and effective health services to patients. In other cases, basic research is said to seek more knowldeg for knowdleg sakes. Basic research mainly makes use of animal testing to come up with new ways and medication

In the real world, people automatically assume that video games can help make people smarter and healthier. People think that without video games; they do not have any abilities to learn or to mend their mind and body. Through all the studies done by many different researchers, there have been many different results. Some results have shown an increase in heart rate, while others have shown video games help people deal with stress. While most of the studies had negative effects, there were very few studies that had shown no effect at all, and depended on the type of person tested. The majority of the video games made are violent and have nothing in them to benefit the player. Almost every videogame is made strictly for entertainment and does just that by appealing to the majority. The games are made so that that you will buy them, therefore violence, sex, and drugs are put into many of the videogames children play today.
Basic research is mainly concerned with generalizations and the formulation of theory. It is driven by curiosity or interest in a subject. The main motivation is to expand man’s knowledge, not to create or invent something. Many scientists believe that basic research
There have been several studies conducted on learning and serious games, for example, a recent study by the Office of Naval Research found that video game players performed ten to twenty percent better in perceptual and cognitive ability than non-game players, and that video games helped adults process information faster(Steinberg,2012). Another study by the Federation of American Scientists found that students re...
Most people think that video games are harmful and waste of time. As a result, the main question of the research is how video games can influence on children and many minor questions come to mind about video games: Do video games influence a child’s psychological development and make them more aggressive and violent? Do video games affect a child’s grades? What are the influences of video games on children? Many people don’t have much information about video games and how video games may effect on people’s behavior, health and mind.
First of all video games can benefit the person playing the game. Video games strengthen reading and visual skills. In the article “what video games can teach us” by Emily Sohn, Sohn says “because kids are interested in the game, they often end up reading at a level well above their grade.” This statement is true about anything, a person will do things as long as they think it benefits them. In a kids case they believe that reading during the game will help them beat the game. Therefore they will read even though they may not realize that they are improving their literacy skills at the same time as playing the game.A game may improve your visual skills as well. A study made by researchers from the University of Rochester came to the conclusion that video game players gain better visual skills than people that don’t play them. Video game players can keep track of more objects at a time. As well as pick out objects quicker out of a cluttered environment.
