Leadership means different things to different people. Hence, it becomes hard to define leadership. What one can definitely say is the fact that leaders set the course of action and help their team to move forward. The real benefit of working on this particular topic would be to understand real life application and effect of abusive leader in the formal hierarchy of an organisation. The effort that we have put in here is beyond our books and what is taught in class. It will help us understand importance of a good leader and how we can differentiate between a successful and an unsuccessful leader. We will be able to analyse real life implications of both and study the possible measures to avoid being an abusive leader as well as how external factors can prevent a person turning into the same.
Abusive leadership occurs when individuals in a formal leadership role engage in aggressive or punitive behaviour towards their employees. Such behaviour can vary widely from leaders degrading their employees by yelling, ridiculing, and name-calling to terrorizing employees by withholding information or threatening employees with job loss and pay
