Lyle and Erik Menendez were just two young males who had their whole lives ahead of them. That soon came crashing down on August 20th, 1989, when they began taking out their rage against their parents that night. The brothers started their horrendous acts on their farther, Jose, who was known to be extremely tough on the young boys and allegedly performed sexual acts on them too. Soon after finishing off their farther, they begin to torture their mother, Marie Louise, mostly known by Kitty, who knew about the sexual abuse and hard time the boys went through and did nothing, received the blunt of their anger. Combining the shot wounds on both Jose and Kitty, there were a total of fifteen shots all together. The brothers had their plan all worked out, and were going to get away with it had it not been for younger brother, Erik. Keeping the secret of the murders weighed too much on Erik and he soon confessed everything to his therapist, L. Jerome Oziel. Some seen them as the victims, where as some seen them as cold blooded killers. The brothers played up the idea that the murders of their parents were their only way out. During the trial, Erik’s attorney brought family members, coaches, neighbors, and friends to the stand to describe what Jose and Kitty were like to the boys. All of them saying how hard he was on the boys and how he was prone to embarrass the boys when they did not meet his standards (“Menendez Brothers’”). Soon, the judge was done hearing about the parents, and brought the boys to the stand. Both boys told the court of the abuse they endured, and how they believed that their parents were planning to kill them soon because they could not keep their mouth shut about the abuse.
