The story A Dog’s Tale is about a dog describing its life. You can tell by the first sentence of the story; "My father was a St. Bernard, my mother was a collie, but I am a Presbyterian." At the beginning of the story it tells about the dog's life as a puppy, and the separation from her mother. A Presbyterian named Aileen tells her life story from birth to adulthood. Her mother was a Collie, and her father was a St. Bernard. In the story it goes on to tell about the life of Aileen and how she was adopted into a new home with a new family, the Grey's. Her new life was as perfect as it could get. She had days filled with joy and excitement. Mr. and Mrs. Grey had a infant baby, and some days Aileen would sit and watch her in her crib. Gray, would experiment and work. Besides the joy she got from playing in her home, she also had a big back yard space that she could play in and call her own. She once found another puppy, a Presbyterian just like her. They became closer and closer and they even had a puppy of their own. Aileen is not just a loyal friend but a hero. One day when there is a house fire in the nursery, Aileen rescues the newborn and carries it to safety. Although Aileen saved the day and rescued the small infant, her owners misunderstood the whole situation and Aileen was crucially beaten. The servant of the family home was the only one who knew that Aileen was only trying to save the baby, and felt very sorry for the dog. However, soon after the truth of the situation was revealed and Aileen received endless praise. Her puppy then later died from the results of the biological experiments from her owners. The end of the story consists of the Dog mourning her dead puppy and she spends the rest of her life doing
