The main characters in Jane Yolen’s story “Suzy and Leah” are Suzy and Leah. Suzy lives in America, where there is a camp for refugee children. While Leah lives in the refugee camp. Leah, the refugee, has to learn to trust the Germans, while Suzy has to learn to appreciate Leah. Both Suzy and Leah dislike each other at first, but when they start to get to know each other they change their perspective on each other. At the beginning of the story, Suzy starts to give candies and oranges to the refugee children. Leah explained, “I will never take a sweet from that yellow-haired girl, though. She laughed at Yonni. I will not take another orange fruit.” Next, the refugees start coming to school. Suzy wasn’t too happy about this… “So how are those
refugee kids going to learn? Our teachers teach in English. This is America after all.” Leah, on the other hand, didn’t want to go to school. “The adults of the Americans say we are safe now. And so we must go to their school. But I say no place is safe for us.” After having to help and teach Leah English, Suzy learns she is as prickly as a porcupine. Leah didn’t like having to be taught by Suzy, but Leah did get moved up to Suzy’s class, and she learned many new words. Then Leah was in the hospital, and Suzy felt worried about her.
Holling was a very interesting and very relatable person. He’s this pre-teen thats in middle school. He has a dad that only cares about work, his mom works around the house and his sister she work for Bobby Kennedy and she is a flower child. Holling is the only student in his classrooms on wednesday afternoons with Mrs. Baker. Half of his class is catholic, and half is lutheran, and they leave early on wednesdays to go to church.

Afterwards, they had traveled “outside the city, at a fine house with a high stone wall” (89), where Lola said goodbye to Stela and the baby and her and Serif walked into the dark.
However, instead of allowing the corruption and grief of losing a significant figure in her life completely consume her, Leah embraces a new culture and turns to another male figure, her husband Anatole, for guidance. With new surrounding influences, Leah encounters various forms of separation, whether it be from her birthplace, father, or husband, and accepts all the drawbacks and loses that come along with the isolation. At the same time, Leah also challenges herself to overcome the loss and succumb to the loneliness that could potentially bring her closer to a new aspect of life never explored before. In the short story, “Until Gwen” by Dennis Lehane, it starts off with the main character named Bobby who is getting picked up by his father from prison with a stolen Dodge Neon. His father wasn’t alone, he brought himself a company and it was a hooker named Mandy. We got a sense of who his father was, a “professional thief, a consummate con man” (647). We don’t know why he was in prison until the rest of the story slowly reveals the flashbacks he has with his girlfriend Gwen and the incident prior of going to jail. Bobby has no sense of who he is or where he is from because there no proof of record of him such as a birth certificate. First and foremost, the novel Hush by Jacqueline Woodson deals with a lot of issues, but if we really look closely at Toswiah/Evie’s internal journey we really understand that the book revolves around Evie/Toswiah and how she needs to about figure out who she is. The Wrights home was a poor, lonely type of home. The trees that surround the house grew in a sad state. The road that led up to the farm was an unoccupied path. Minnie Wright is the woman who lives on these lonely grounds. She is friendless and mostly keeps to herself. There is no one for her to talk to, her husband died recently, thus, she lives out her life as an outcast. In hindsight, Mrs. Hale, a woman who knows Mrs. Wright, explains to her friend, “'But I tell you what I do wish, Mrs. Peters I wish I had come over sometimes when she was here I wish– I had.’ I [too] wish I had come over to see Minnie sometimes.’” Since no one takes the time out of their busy schedules to visit Mrs. Wright, Minnie feels unwanted.
Unlike Bottom, classism is very important to the character of Mrs. Turpin. As an avid supporter of this mystery series, I have to say this is my favorite installment so far. In fact, I did not figure out who did it (although I should have), and the acting was extraordinary. I promise not to reveal who the murderer is--you will have to watch to obtain that information. But I would like to congratulate the actors, crew (including the director), writer, and anyone else who worked on this show. Clever story, outstanding costumes, and this is truly one of the most supportive casts around. As a side note, I also adore the music. Typically, I don't even notice the music in Hallmark films, but this is one where the music is unique and fits the film immeasurably well.
