In comparing the sixties and the nineties, my first thought was how much popular culture has changed since then and how different society is today. The strange thing is, the more I tried to differentiate between them, the more similarities I found. Both the sixties and the nineties were about youth, creativity, free-thinking, and expression. With the nineties coming to a close and the popularity of anything ?retro," I decided to compare the fashions, people, music, and issues that defined pop culture in the 1960?s and its influence on pop culture in the 1990?s.
Canada is a country that has overcome countless difficult hurdles and challenges throughout its journey to becoming the nation it is today. Nonetheless, the historical journey was not entirely negative, rather, there were some very memorable experiences during the 1900s in specific; one of them being the Roaring 20s, in which countries’ economies boomed, and people were now able to afford items they normally would not be able to. This caused a period of innovators, with the consumers demanding new products to replace various tasks or bring upon something unheard of; this was their time. Furthermore, large amounts of money being earned made receiving funds much easier for researchers, and results were achieved at a much quicker rate. Having these pieces of clothing widespread throughout the country defiantly set America apart. Finally, pop culture in this era also showed our nations creativeness. Pokemon had stuck out the most from everything else. The production of millions of “baseball cards” with animated animals on them was a huge sensation for kids and teens across the country. The enjoyment of having a strong pull of creativeness in America was not a bad thing at all, yet a decade cannot always be perfect.
