September 11 terrorists attacks were the worst acts of terrorism the United States had ever experienced. It killed about 3,000 innocent people. Tuesday, September 11,2001, terrorists hijacked 4 commercial jetliners and crashed two of them into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, one in the Pentagon in Washington, and one crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. It was an important event in American history because of what started it, events leading up to it, Twin Towers crash, Pentagon crash, and the Pennsylvania crash.
The U.S. government associated the attacks to al-Qa’ida, an Islamic extremist group made by a millionaire from Saudi Arabia, Osama bin Laden. In the past, Bin Laden sent out a “fatwa” (religious commandment) calling for Muslims to murder citizens from America, and an al Qaeda, …show more content…

There were 44 people on the plane. Shortly after 10:00 a.m., the flight crashed into a field in Somerset County in southeastern Pennsylvania, killing everyone on the plane. Telephone calls made by passengers and crew on the plane allowed investigators to reconstruct the events that followed up to the crash. After the hijacking, the passengers learned of other attacks and attempted to take back control of the plane. Worried that the passengers might succeed, the hijackers the crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. Authorities believe that the terrorists were planning on crashing into the United States Capitol in Washington DC. or the White House. In May, 2011, a team of Navy SEALS shot and killed bin Laden during a nighttime helicopter raid on the terrorist leader’s compound in northern Pakistan.
