9/11- America was lead to destroy its own ideals. The cellphone rings breaking the tranquil morning at an apartment in New York City, half asleep, Robert picks up the phone only to hear, “Honey we are hit”. The line disconnected jolting him out of his sleep. He looked at his phone which displayed that the call was from his wife, tried to call back with no success, ‘What’s it all about’, he tried to sober up, having just returned home from the barracks he was just taking a long deserved rest. Another call broke his chain of thoughts, he picked up the call only to hear his sister sobbing on the other end urging him to watch the television. In the course of the war on Terror, The allied force launched a war against two predominant Muslim countries: Afghanistan- due to Taliban sheltering Osama Bin Laden and Iraq- Saddam Hussein’s alleged possession of the weapon of mass destruction. Through the course of War the death tolls has crossed millions, trillions of dollars have been spent and the war is far from being over. The war which was an act of Justice had long become a war of vengeance and 15 years later the terrorism has evolved, changed its form and is showing signs of rapid increase. All the channels had reported the celebration in the Iraqi streets and happy faces of the citizens as they were free of a dictator. By now he was no longer surprised that the protests against the allied forces were not yet reported in any American news, as it was not yet time for people to know about it. He recalled hearing the words from the British Prime Minister back during the world war, “If people really knew the truth the war would be stopped tomorrow, but of course they don’t know and can’t know” (Television). He couldn’t wonder but think if the American public knew all the truths would the war still be supported? probably yes. When the weapons of mass destruction, the main reason for the Iraq war were not found even months after the war, Bob could not wonder but question himself how much was his contribution to all the death and destruction in Iraq.
With the motive of freeing Iraqi citizens from the dictator Saddam Hussein and disabling Saddam’s weapon of mass destruction, the attack on Iraq was a joint effort by many countries like U.S., U.K. and other European countries.
