Democracy is a Greek word meaning “rule by the people.” The idea of a democratic government began in Greece in 700 B.C, about twenty-five hundred years ago. Rome was so large that not everyone could play a role in government so the Roman citizens elected representatives to speak and act for them. This form of government was called a republic. The United States has a representative form of government. The representatives make laws and rules for the country. The government should be rated at an 8 because it has some flaws but it is still decent.
There are three branches of government in the United States representative democracy. The legislative branch, makes the laws for the country and creates agencies and programs. The judicial branch makes the laws and determines if the acts of congress are constitutional or unconstitutional. The executive branch carries out the laws making it the most important branch of the United States government.
The Judicial Branch in the United States, unlike most national Judicial systems, yields great political power and must be counted as part of the American Political system. Someone or some group must go to the court first; the court does not take the initiative.
The Judicial Branch is a system of courts that manage court cases at all levels including federal, state, and local. Federal cases have a higher penalty under conviction. Judges of Federal court cases are both strict and just. If found guilty in a federal court one must face sentencing to a variety of punishments. Punishments include the death penalty and prison sentencing.
“The Judiciary is the safeguard of our liberty and of our property under the constitution”. This quote is a good description of the judicial branch and courts. The Judiciary is a safeguard of our liberty because it governs the court system, which keeps society in line.
The goal of the Judicial branch is to hold people accountable for crimes and keep justice in the land. This goal is being reached for the most part. Those who commit crimes are brought to trial. The court system is responsible for many duties of justice. Courts make the world a safer place.

The Constitution confers judicial power on the Supreme Court and on inferior courts as created by Congress (Hames & Ekern, 2013). Judicial review is the power of the court to interpret the Constitution and invalidate conflicting laws.
The Judiciary Branch offers checks and balances to the other branches of government. To both the Legislative and Executive branches, the Judicial Branch holds the power of judicial review. The Judicial branch can also declare existing laws as unconstitutional.
Before the theory was enacted, there was a wave of immigrants migrating to New York City. The city was home to younger individuals that could be influenced positively instead of negatively. It was considerably a new era for change. The Broken Windows Theory came from realizing that disorder in a community leads to crime so, “If a window is broken and left unrepaired, people walking by will conclude that no one cares and no one is in charge” (Gladwell 152). Once people assume that there is no order, they start to believe that they can get away with committing criminal act whether it’s big or small. This leads to a pattern of increased crimes instead of a decrease. The Broken Windows Theory implies that crime is “contagious” and can therefore spread through the city. This can create a pattern in the community leading to a city filled with crime. It is not new for a city to repeat negative habits within its community. Friedrich Engels documented the city of Manchester and “the patterns of human movement and decision-making that have been etched into the texture of city blocks, patterns that are then fed back to the Manchester resident themselves, altering their subsequent decisions” (Johnson 199). Judicial review allows the Supreme Court to decide whether or not the other branches of governments’ actions are constitutional or not. This power is very important because it is usually the last hope of justice for many cases. This also allows the court to overturn lower courts’ rulings. Cases like Miranda v. Arizona gave Miranda justice for having his rules as a citizen violated. The court evalutes whether any law was broken then makes their ruling. Also, the Weeks v. United States case had to be reviewed by the court because unlawful searches and siezures were conducted by officers. One of the most famous cases involving judicial review was the Plessey v. Ferguson

This is what the United States is represented as, and this is based on the United States Constitution from which the United states draws all legal powers.
