Physiotherapy with at home exercise, stretching, ice or heat can heal some injuries. Sometimes the need for rest, pain meds or anti-inflammatories will also yield results. Placed in the genre of jam bands, Keller is able to create a solo jamming experience with the use of his arsenal of various instruments. Keller was “introduced to looping techniques by ‘Flecktones’ bassist Victor Wooten,” which he now uses “to build a full-band sound with only one man on stage” (“Keller Williams Brings”). A typical song will begin by Williams playing a guitar riff which he will then “loop” so that it repeats continuously. Next, he might pick up another guitar, of which he has collection numbering eight or so, and record another riff which he will loop on top of the original riff.
Chapel Hill’s Memorial Hall hosted performing artist Chris Thile on September 12th to delight a full house with a comedic, live, musical performance featuring himself. Appearing as a one-man-show, Thile stood simply on stage with his mandolin around his neck and a microphone in front of him to capture his witty banter and southern vocals. Sports Medicine is a medical field that specializes with physical fitness, treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. It was introduced around the early Greek and Roman era when the first modern Olympic Games took place. The Greek felt they could do something to help heal and prevent injuries that the athletes were receiving. Now in sports medicine, certain injuries can only be assessed and treated by specific physicians. These physicians can include physical therapists, athletic trainers, and strength and conditioning coaches. Although sports physicians are most commonly seen by athletes after they are hurt so they can be treated, there are some physicians that are seen before an injury occurs so that they can learn how to prevent injuries.
