Child Performers? Of Course!

Child performers are beneficial to society. The issue here causing controversy is whether or not child performers should be able to perform. With kids who compete in sports at stake, laws shouldn’t be telling kids to not follow their dreams. This debate is very important to be considerate about because there are many different types of child performers and they all do their performances differently, so someone’s point about child actors could not apply to children competing in sports. So now, think about the last time you watched television. Maybe you were watching the Olympics, or maybe a show that had kids in it (like Modern Family, for instance.) Did you know that any person under 18 in those programs would be a considered a child performer? Yes, even some competitive figure skaters would be considered child performers.

First of all, a ban wouldn’t get rid of all child performers, only reduce the number of them. Think about ALL the gun laws Chicago has in place. Before all those laws, more people could get a gun and there were more shootings. With all the new laws, criminals supposedly can’t get a gun and shootings of children or adults are supposed to be gone! Sure, there aren’t as many shootings and criminals have to go through a very lenghty process to even attempt to get a gun. But, criminals still have guns, are able to get guns, and shootings still happen many times a year. A recent study done by Dr. Eric Fleegler of Boston, published in JAMA Internal Medicine Magazine, states that there is no significant difference in the number of mass shootings that happen in states with strict gun laws than there are happening in states that have little, or no gun laws. Comparing this to the child per...

Now, think about how many more changes would happen if all the kids in those movies were banned and had to be replaced by adults. People probably won’t like their imaginative story world changed even more in a movie than they have been because they’ve already responded negatively to changes so far.

It’s very crucial to consider my evidence: a ban wouldn’t get rid of all child performers, only reduce the number of them; kids relate to kids! Children can be more influenced to pursue a sport or talent if they see a kid their age achieving; performers need to start early as child performers to learn the business; and child performers are needed in society. So, go ahead and stick up for child performers to not be banned. Your vote counts! And, remember, if they say no, say yes!
